Rover: hopefully this will count as my third posting  and I will no longer be a " new boy" and you will eventually be able to send me a PM.

Re Newport Isle of Wight. It is worth remembering that in old records, many of the small villages e.g. Calbourne are listed as "Newport" as they come within it's admin. district.

 ;)

To Rover. I apologise but I have discovered that the Personal Message facility is blocked for me until I have made 3 postings. I also have a feeling that other facilities may be restricted as I can find no way to start a new topic in order to help others.  It is like going to school on the first day.

I now have to make one more post to get through the first hoop . . .

I have just joined this forum Rover after I spotted your posting re the old Coach & Horses at Pyle St.Newport.  My Great Grandfather and my Great Great Grandfather with wife and children all lived at the Coach and Horses at the same time as your family i.e. 1861. I also have a note of my family at 84 Pyle St in 1854 but not sure if this is the same addresss.

I hope you spot my posting as have not discovered how to send anyone a private message/email via this forum but I would be pleased to make that contact with you.
