Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: SIZER Family of Leeds, Yorkshire
« on: Sunday 05 August 18 22:48 BST (UK)  »
Hello again

I think that the Richard SIZER who started Sizer Ltd may have been my ggg grandfather's nephew but in any case, I'm pretty sure that we are talking about the same family so I would love to know more.

Please do feel free to put me in touch with your mother. Is she registered with Rootschat? If not, perhaps you could PM me and I can let you have my email address.

Hi
Thanks so much for getting in touch. I haven't looked at Rootschat for a long while but I'm definitely still interested in finding out about the SIZER family.

Since I posted my last message back in 2009 I've been able to take my line back a bit further by using the Yorkshire parish records on Findmypast. I have now got as far as my 6 x great-grandfather Thomas SIZER who married Magdalene RUSSELL in Knaresborough in 1726. His grandson Richard SIZER was born in Knaresborough but moved with his wife Eleanor (nee HAGUE) to Hull, and their son John b 1801 (my ggg grandfather) eventually settled in London.

If you are able to send and receive personal messages, I can PM you with further details. I would be very interested in hearing more about your SIZERs as well.

Kind regards

Lizzie

I so wish this was William's first marriage, but as he was born in 1775, it definitely isn't  :)

As he would only have been 19 years old when he married Lydia, his first marriage must presumably have taken place some time between say 1791 and 1794. I've no luck so far in Bucks but did wonder if  he had married 'over the border'.

Of course the Ann Nash burial may still turn out to be his first wife....

Thank you again and also for the banns info.

Many thanks for this; I really appreciate your help.

William Nash was my 5 x g great grandfather so I'm now going to look for his first marriage.

Would someone be able to check the details of a marriage in the parish of Wendover for me please? The couple's names are William NASH and Lydia CLARKE and I have a date of 15 December 1794.

Many thanks

Hi Lizzie,
I have just telephoned the cemetery to get the plot position and sadly I have been told that there is no headstone as it is a common grave with twelve other people. Sounds just like my lot, sadly they probably didn't have any money.
 :-\ :)
Hi
What a shame! Ah well, I'm not too surprised - not many wealthy folk in my family, now or then!  :)
Anyway, I'm very grateful to you for trying.
Many, many thanks
Lizzie
