New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Do you have any famous NZ'ers in your family?
« on: Thursday 04 July 13 11:37 BST (UK)  »
 :) wow !
What a wonderful project. I wish i was there.
I have been researching my New Zealand family history for over 10 years. My great grandfather was a well known engineer Peter Seton Hay, who came out from Scotland in 1860. he was the first graduate of Otago University in 1879 and went on to become Chief engineer of the colony. I have very little other knowledge or photos of his life and family . He died in 1907.
His son John Seton Hay was my grandfather who was also a graduate of the university along with his other son James Johnston Hay.
John Seton Hay married a widow Patricia Henrys(nee Ludlow) in 1919. Her first husband  Was John Louis henrys, son of Joseph Edward Henrys born in 1866 in Dunedin. He went on to become one of new Zealand"s most famous racing handicappers.
So as you can see I am ver frustrated at not being able to access photos and family information because from what I can gather both families would have been quite notable at the time.
I hope you find my families suitable to research and i am sure I would be grateful for any new photos or information you might uncover.
 sincerely
Marcia Hay

New Zealand Completed Requests / Photos of the Henrys family
« on: Thursday 30 August 12 13:05 BST (UK)  »
My father's step grandfather Joseph Edward Henrys was a well known handicapper in the early 1900's in NZ His son John Lewis Henrys was also well known as a football player and also a handicapper. There are  many mentions of the family in papers past but I have only come across 1 image of Joe Henrys.
I am sure that for such a notable family there must be a stash of photos somewhere. I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. I have tried many photographic collections. Pperhaps i am just not using the correct seach technique??

Waterford / Re: Marriage and birth of Hannah Cronin
« on: Thursday 30 August 12 12:45 BST (UK)  »
 ??? Hi Shelley
Our family certainly did not have much of a list of names when it came to naming their kids. hanora , Honora Hannah   and Nora and then Michael and james. At least we might try to work on John Cronin and Nora being their mother and father and go from there. I haven't had much of a chance to look at the baptism certificate yet. My mum had 2 heart attacks last week and only came home on Monday. Iam her carer and she lives with us. To top it off my son is in Afghanistan and the 5 killed today were from his barracks. But what we can't cure we endure I suppose but i am a bit of a wreck.
 Cheers for now
Marcii
PS do you have any photos/ I have a photo of Hannah and James which I will post when I find it.
