Lynn

I checked with my mother and although she remembers some families who lived in Buffalo Terrace she has no recollection of anyone called Lewcock.  She was born in 1926 so her recollections will be from the 1940s and 1950s.

Just seen these posts.  Buffalo Terrace was on the main road going towards Harras Bank between Swinburne Place (which is still there) and the Traveller's Rest pub.  Then there was Napier Terrace then the Crown Inn and then Bede Row along to Harras Bank.  I lived in Wilfrid Street when I was a child (in the 50s and 60s).  The pubs were still there then but the houses had been demolished.  The houses were there when my mother was young and she has confirmed the information.   She describes Buffalo Terrace as flats with wooden steps at the back to the upper ones.

The above link gives Catholic parishes in Kilkenny.

Kilkenny parish records are now mostly on line:  See

If you try the above link you will find three records of baptism of girls called Mary Walsh in Mooncoin in 1864.  But if you have no further clues as to her parents they may not get you any further.

I would try the following site:

http://kilkenny.brsgenealogy.com

which now has nearly all the available Kilkenny records on line.  It has been invaluable to me - but it costs!

My grandfather - a Casey - came from Cloontubrid in the parish of Killasser.   He has Durkan cousins there.  In the 1901 census there were a few Durkan households in Cloontubrid.    I attach a copy of that census.

Have you tried the Mayo Family History site?   http://mayo.brsgenealogy.com

That shows only three Martin Durkans baptised in Killasser in the 1870s - none in 1875 but I have learnt never to set too much store by the accuracy of dates.   It might be worth exploring these if you have any more family clues.    There are a number of Mary Cassidys born about that time on Mayo but none in Killasser.
