Hello

I am not sure if this will help but it gives some additional information about her travelling arrangements ....

On the two outward trips she is listed as Mrs M E Wormwell (born c1871) ....

18th August 1928 she sailed from London to Port Said, Egypt on board the “Orsova” (which was ultimately destined for Australia). She was listed as a Governess.

On 31st August 1934 she sailed from London to Port Said, Egypt on board the “Otranto” (which was ultimately destined for Australia). Her occupation is listed as “Nil”.

On the inward 1934 journey she is shown to have come from Egypt.

On http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=home there are christenings shown for children of John and Hannah Gregory at Ashton under Lyne, as follows ....

James 20/12/1829

A few more names to search the censuses for might help to locate them.

Hello

There was only one birth registered at Newcastle under Lyme for a Mary Agnes Rafferty and that is the one shown above by heywood. The other birth, for Mary Rafferty, is recorded separately but given the same reference number on the Staffordshire BMD site (which suggests that each registration might refer to the same child).

Mary Agnes Rafferty (born in Newcastle under Lyme) must have made more than one journey across the Atlantic because in 1911 she is clearly in England - http://www.1911census.co.uk/.

Do you have the details of the relatives that she went to live with in USA?

Thank you Evie for looking.

Here are the two census entries. Although this seems very likely to be the correct family it would still be advisable to check further from the marriage details of Margaret or Elizabeth.

This might be a stroke of luck (or a huge coincidence) ....

On the 1861 census, I think, William Hampson is recorded twice. He appears with his wife in Preston here and he also seems to appear at Liverpool RG9/2677 Folio 17 Page 27 as the Brother in Law of James Cockton Daulby and his wife Elizabeth (nee Spencer), who married in the second quarter of 1855 at St Philip, Liverpool.

If it is the same man (and it certainly seems so to me) then it looks like his future wife, Margaret Spencer and his future sister in law, Elizabeth Spencer might be found in 1851 at Liverpool HO107/2183 Folio 102 Page 70 and in 1841 at Liverpool HO107/561/20 Folio 12 Page 16 ... if someone else would like to check, please.
