Somerset / Re: 19th c. Stone masons near Yeovil

My wife and I were holidaying in Norton sub Hamden a year ago checking out family history.  The two villages nestle under Ham Hill which is famous for providing quality building stone.  I don't know about the history of the quarry, but there is a nice memorial to the stone masons on the top of the hill.

I hope this helps.

I entered the marriage of Abraham Braham and Hannah Moses from the wrong field in my database when I gave it as 22 Feb 1874.  I do have their marriage as 2 Aug 1812.
However, I don't see how Nathaniel Braham and Lidia Barnett could have been married in 1799 since Abraham was born in 1791.  Should it be 1789?

Hello,

I am having a lot of trouble locating marriages, births etc for Jews (esp. in London).

In the 1841 Census I have found my great x 5 grandfather Abraham BRAHAM and his wife, Hannah in St George The Martyr. He is an artist born around 1791 outside of Middlesex. His wife Hannah is born in 1786 outside of Middlesex as well and dies in 1856.

I would really like to find their marriage and get some clue as to what her surname was or parents but I am not holding out much hope as I have tried almost every resource on the internet without any luck.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

I have Hannah Moses marrying Abraham Braham on 22 Feb 1874 at Lambeth, Surrey.  I have Abraham's parents also, and their descendants to my wife via their granddaughter Grace Ruth (mentioned in the census).

Europe / Re: Relatives standoffish towards non English ancestors.

My Jews were Sephardic, originally from Spain/Portugal they then went to Holland and then onto England sometime in the 18th Century. John Braham the tenor is my great, great, great, great, great grandfather's brother. :)

My wife is a Braham descendant.  A distant cousin has a reference to a connection with John Braham, but we are unable to confirm the link.  I would be very interested to find out whether my wife is indeed related to John Braham.

(By the way she is proud of all her ancestry, English, Scottish, Irish, Jewish and Chinese.)
