Hi Brendan, you are in luck. There are a few of us that have been on the same journey you wish to embark.
I have a tree that says in the bottom right corner "Corrections and additions will be gladly received by JAMES DIXON, 19 Sallymount Avenue, Ranelagh, Dublin". It was posted to me my mother's cousin who lives in the USA. I live in Australia. I assume the tree is from the 1940s or even earlier given my grandmother is on it but her husband and children are not. Same for her brother.
Below are George and Jane's children
George Mitchell Yeates (baptised 5 Nov 1796 St Mary's, Dublin - died 8 Nov 1862 or 1882)
Married 11 April 1819 St Peter's, Dublin
Jane Sparks (born c1795/1800 - died 31 July 1837 Dublin probably)
I can't confirm either George or Jane's deaths. I've had no luck getting access to my local Mormon Church to order the microfilm for Mt Jerome Cemetery, Harold's Cross, Dublin. It's always locked up like a fortress. Their phone number isn't even in the phone book.
George Mitchell Yeates and Jane Sparks had the following children:

i. ANNA MARIA2 YEATES was born on 18 May 1820 in Dublin, Ireland. She died on 01 Apr 1821.

ii.   MARY ELLEN YEATES was born on 19 Feb 1822 in Dublin, Ireland. She died on 29 Mar 1897.

Notes for Mary Ellen Yeates:

possibly if known as Ellen Yeates may have married William Richard Hamilton an MD of Co Sligo. His father was also William. Ellen's father was George and she resided at 89 Ranelagh Road at the time her marriage 10 Sept 1857 at St Peters. William Richard Hamilton was a widower. Certificate is on website http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/reels/d-45-3-12-034.pdf

Generation 1 (con't)

iii.   FRANCIS SAMUEL YEATES was born on 06 Feb 1824 in Dublin, Ireland. He died on 12 Sep 1825.

iv.   JANE YEATES was born about 26 Jun 1826 in Dublin, Ireland. She died on 02 Mar 1827.

Notes for Jane Yeates:

May have been born 26-06-1826 and baptised 16-07-1826 Yeates Jane at St Peters Dublin

v.   EDWARD YEATES was born about 1827.

vi.   ELIZA YEATES was born on 26 Oct 1828 in Dublin, Ireland. She died on 16 Jun 1905. Eliza Yeates was baptized on 16 Nov 1828 in St Peter's, Dublin, Ireland.
2.   vii.   GEORGE ANDREW YEATES was born on 03 Aug 1830 in Dublin, Ireland. He died on

3   Feb 1914 in Dublin, Ireland. He married ANNIE MORRIS on 08 Dec 1859 in Dublin, Ireland (School Room in Kildare Place licensed for Divine Worship, Parish of St Anne's, Dublin, Ireland.). She was born about 1832 in County Armagh, Ireland. She died on 23 Mar 1918 in Dublin, Ireland..

3.   viii.   STEPHEN MITCHELL YEATES was born on 27 May 1832 in Dublin, Ireland. He died on

27   Dec 1901 in Dublin, Ireland. (Rathdown registration district). He married MARY
ANNE PARKS on 27 Mar 1856 in St Anne, Dublin, Ireland (St Anne's Church in the Parish of St Anne in the Co of the City of Dublin.). She was born on 06 Apr 1824 in Balbriggan, Dublin, Ireland. She died on 21 Aug 1905.

4.   ix. HORATIO YEATES was born on 10 Mar 1834 in Dublin, Ireland. He died on 23 Aug 1907 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. He married KATE LUCY HUELIN BARRETT on 02 Jan 1863 in Parish of St Peter in the City of Dublin, Dublin, Ireland (Dublin South District, Volume 5, Page 279.), daughter of Samuel John Barrett and Susannah Meekings. She was born about 1832 in Dublin, Ireland. She died on 03 Aug 1921 in New Norfolk near Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.

5.   x. REBECCA YEATES was born on 07 Jan 1836 in Dublin, Ireland. She died on 18 Aug 1923 in USA. She married GEORGE DIXON on 27 Jul 1854 in Dublin, Ireland (St Anne's, Dublin, Ireland.). He was born on 07 Jul 1814 in Ireland. He died on 11 Sep 1871.

My link is Horatio Yeates so I have comprehensive info on his descendants. I know he and his children wrote many letters and visited after their move to England and later Australia. I guess that is how I ended up with one of James Dixon's tree.

Hi Ken
Yes, George Frederick Yeates 1870-1955 was the son of Horatio Yeates 1834-1907.
George Mitchell Yeates sons were Francis Samuel Yeates 6 Feb 1824-12 Sept 1825
Edward Yeates c1827-?
George Andrew Yeates 3 Aug 1830-3 Feb 1914
Stephen Mitchell Yeates 27 May 1832-27 Dec 1901
Horatio Yeates 10 March 1834-23 Aug 1907.
George Mitchell Yeates also had 5 daughters. The youngest, Rebecca Yeates 7 Jan 1836-18 Aug 1923 married George Dixon 7 July 1814-11 Sept 1871.
George Dixon died when his youngest son, Henry Horatio Dixon was only 2. I've read that Rebecca was very determined that her sons receive the best of education even though she was raising them alone.
George Dixon & Rebecca Yeates had 4 sons and 3 daughters, Jane, Mary and Maud.
Yes, Henry Horatio Dixon was alive until 20 Dec 1953.
James Dixon's letter to George Frederick Yeates dated 26 Novem 1939 says " George Wyclif died in last March and of course she misses him very much. " I'm not sure why you would've had 1889 as his death date.
I hope I haven't forgotten anything.
Katie

Hi Zane
It's kind of funny that I've been researching for nearly 3 years and have finally found someone that lives in the same state as me.
my email address is (*) I can email you a Yeates tree. I do not have a source for Frederick Yeates born c1850 Dublin that is married to your Elizabeth Catherine Gertrude McGovern. As a couple they seem kind of hard to track down. Given that they keep changing the names they & their children were known by and the spelling for Yeates being transcribed as Yates one year at least. Do you know when Marion Yeates came to Australia?
Katie

Hi
It looks like we may have a Yeates connection. I'm looking at my tree and have a Frederick Yeates born c1850 in Dublin, Ireland.
I have 3 children for him 1) Frederick John Yeates c1875 Black Rock, Dublin - 1918 France.
2) Marion Yeates c1877 Liverpool, England - c1936 Brisbane, Australia
3) Arthur Talbot Yeates 16 Feb 1880 147 Rosalind St, Kirkdale, Lancashire, England, UK.  -  c1950 California USA.
I was told the mother of these children and wife of Frederick Yeates was Gertrude McGovern but since the marriage of Frederick and Gertrude wasn't until March Quarter 1883 perhaps his first wife and Mother of these children is the Elizabeth and Gertrude is a second wife. What do you think? I've not had much luck getting marriage certs from Ireland. I did get one for Horatio Yeates and Kate Lucy Barrett but it showed their ages as full so wasn't much good at the time. Luckily their headstones in Tasmania were transcribed and gave age at death.
Cheers Katie
