Thank so much Forfarian, there is so much for me to to investigate there, I'm just sorry I havn't replied sooner. I do have info about where in Bellie James and Ann are buried etc, but I shall certainly be kept busy with finding out about the Duke of Gordon and the like. As for the link between our trees thats fantastic news. I will PM you like you said.
thanks again

Oh well, I'd give them a bit longer I think they will have been busy this week. My Dad was at a 'do' just today actually and met Princess Ann all to do with the school and it was only last month they had a big show of photos actually at the school.
Its a great place actually if you ever get to go. The Purcell school of music who are there now do concerts I think

Moray (Elginshire) / Edgars in Moray

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place here but I'll give it a go!

I've been researching the Edgar family (my fathers side) and I'm a pretty way back c1801 to be precise with a James Edgar. I know he is burried in Bellie and lived in Kellas, Dallas, but he was apparently born in East Lothian. I also know his father was also James Edgar (farm manager) and his mother Janet Baillie I'm presuming they were also from East Lothian.

I'm wondering if anyone has any clues as to why someone would move from East Lothian to Moray. I'm thinking if I can figure that out, I may head off some way in the right direction, otherwise, I'm stuck as to how to go about getting more info off the net before I go on my travels in search of more

many thanks
Stephanie

hi

my dad and his 4 brothers and sister (surname Edgar) were at the school in the 50s too and i did highland dancing competitions there in the 80s! My dad was there recently and they had quite a few old photos so you may get a bit for your money.
good luck!
