Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: parish records Welbury
« on: Tuesday 12 July 11 19:05 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

Just picked up this thread through a Google alert, so apologies that I couldn't offer any help earlier.

Having just checked the Joiner Marriage Index for our marriage records in County Durham I can confirm that Thomas Wrightson of Welbury did marry Sarah Postgate in Stockton on Tees on the 25th May 1758.  That unfortunately is the extent of the data we have, so possibly Welbury is just the place of residence at the time for Thomas.

Good luck with your research, please feel free to get in touch if I can help with any lookups.

Best regards,

Toby

Just found this thread through a Google Alert.  Many apologies if we did not respond through the blog contact page.  I am slightly concerned as to how we missed the query.  Please feel free to contact me through this if there are any further issues.  I will gladly pass any questions I can't answer myself to the real brains, my Dad, Paul Joiner.

Apologies again, I hope the Joiner Marriage Index can help a little better in the future.

Best regards,

Toby

Technical Help / Re: Tapatalk - iPhone Forum App
« on: Tuesday 19 October 10 18:21 BST (UK)  »
Just been reading a little about Tapatalk and just a heads up, for every post a subscriber makes with the app a little bit of code adds a line to the bottom of the post.  Eg. "Sent from an iPhone using Tapatalk".

The app has taken a lot of criticism on some forums (or is that forae?), and I guess this should be taken into account with the audience here.  I personally didn't notice it, but a lot of people get very worked up about it.

I leave it to the powers that be!!

Kind regards.

Technical Help / Tapatalk - iPhone Forum App
« on: Tuesday 19 October 10 10:28 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am only new to the forum so please forgive me if I am about to request something that people feel is not wanted here.  It would be lovely if the administrators here might take a look at Tapatalk, the iPhone, iPad and Android forum application.  To enable this forum I believe it just requires the addition of a small piece of code - information is all available at http://www.tapatalk.com/.  I am in no way affiliated with this company, but I do think it would be a fantastic advancement to be able to view and take part in Rootschat on the go.  The interface is excellent and incredibly user friendly.

Just a thought.

Best regards,

Toby

Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Hemel Hempstead Pre 1837 marriage lookup - HALL

Hello,

Just looking on Ancestry and I stumbled across a family tree which may of course represent your research so far....................... or maybe it is something new to you?

I have found Thomas, born to Benjamin and Sarah in 1751 married to Ann Tarbox who was born in 1758.  It appears that there is the child Thomas you mention in 1774 and then the family perhaps move to Great Gaddesden where an incredible list of further children appears................

Perhaps this is where a lot of speculation and unconfirmed children have been found but there are 16 children listed to Thomas Hall and Ann Tarbox, could this be right?  There are two names that are repeated as another Thomas is born in 1784, and there are Sarah's listed in 1781 and 1786.  As only a beginner I cannot possibly speculate what the meaning is there.

Does any of this help?

Good luck with your search.

Buckinghamshire Completed Look ups / Re: Frances LANGLEY - Burnham 1811
« on: Saturday 16 October 10 10:12 BST (UK)  »
Just had a quick look at the 1841 census and there is a Francis Buckland (though another member has indicated this maybe Frances), whose maiden name was Langley, living in Burnham, aged 30.  This lady is married to a Jeremiah Buckland, and there are 5 children, Charlotte, Charles, Richard, Martha and John.

I know you were more looking for predecessors, but thought this might be helpful.

Cheers,

Toby

Hello,

Got two possibilities for Frances's parents.  We have two marriage records in Burnham, Joseph Langley and Anne Pitt, married on the 6th April 1796, and John Langley and Dinah Devonshire, married on the 24th February 1801.  Both are obviously a little before the birth year you are looking at, but possibly in the event of multiple children, either could be a hopeful.  Of course her parents may have been married in a different parish.

Good luck with the search.

Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / Re: Thomas Shaw - Iver - 1805/6

Hello,

I am guessing the reference to Manchester is from the 1861 census?  That seems to show him living in St Peter, Manchester, married to Henrietta and living in a rather crowded house.  Having a look for some sort of christening record, but not turned up much yet.

Good luck,

Toby

Excellent news, I hope that your search proves fruitful.  Again, all I can do at this stage is confirm your date for the marriage of William and Ann, as marriage records is all we specialise in.  Good luck with it all.
