Hello Heywood.
Thank you for your reply.
Yes I do have a copy of marriage certificate for Jane and it states father deceased soldier.  She married my grandfather in 1887 in Hull.  She was lodging (I presume with a family named Whittaker).  One of the witnesses was also James Whittaker.
I do not have a death for Mary Robinson.  I have the marriage certifcate for her and Gervase, they married in Drumgoon Co of Cavan in 1865.  On this it states Jervis was soldier in 5th Dragoon Guards.
I have also checked the Mary Robinson with son William in Hull but I do not think this is my Mary.
When Gervase left the army in 1872 it just says left at his own request but no onward address.  He left in York.
Its a complete mystry as to where the family went to from 1872 until Jane arrives in Hull to marry my grandfather in 1887.  This is why I thought maybe they went to Ireland.  I would also like to know if Gervase and Mary had other children other than Jervis Frederick and my grandmother Jane Ann Elizabeth.  It would seem quite unusual for a woman in those days only to have two children.
Unfortunately both my grandparents died before I was born and there are no other living relatives to ask about where Jane Ann could have been between 1872 and 1887.
Thank you once again for your help.

Hello Dara,

Thank you for your reply to my request.  I have this information but wondered if there might have been any other children other than Jarvis jnr and Jane Ann Elizabeth.  Also any trace of the family.
Thank you once again.

Ireland / Gervase Robinson

Hello,
My great grandfather Gervase Robinson was a 5th Dragoon Guards and married Mary Loughead in the Parish Church of Drumgoon Co Cavan in 1865.  They had a son Jervis(Gervase/Jarvis Frederick Robinson born 1867 in Curragh Camp, Newbrige, Kildare.  They then returned to England and had a daughter Jane Ann Elizabeth Robson born 1868 in Aldershot Barracks.  I have found then all on the 1971 census in Leeds Barracks.  I know Gervase left the Army in 1872 but then the family vanish from England.  The son died in Leeds aged two.  I cannot find them on the 1881 census and wonder if they returned to Ireland to be near Mary's family in Cootehill.  Mary's father was Hugh Loughead.
I cannot find a death in England for Gervase (Jarvis/Jervis) Robinson.  He was born in Hook, Yorkshire, England in approx 1837.
Jane Ann Elizabeth married in Hull in 1887 to my grandfather James Robert Gardiner born 1866 in Hull, Yorkshire.
There is this gap between 1872 and 1887 which I cannot trace any of them in England and wonder if they were in Ireland.

Any help or suggestion would be appreicated.

Hello ,
I have just found out that my uncle was in the Lichfield Industrial School prior to being admitted to Adel Reform School in 1911.  I found him on the 1911 Census in the Adel Reform School.
I was able to obtain his report whilst he was there and this states he was in the Lichfield School previously.
I do not know when he was in there but he was born Jarvis Gardiner in Hull in 1895.  His parents were James Robert Gardiner and Jane Ann Elizabeth Gardiner.
I can only find a Lichfield Industrial School for Girls on the internet.
Any suggestions please.

Hello Andy,

I wonder if you ever got in touch with Katie Minsons decendant?
I am still trying to get information about the family.  Katie was my grandmothers eldest sister.  Unfortunately the name Jeakins has died out in Hull so unless your friend contacts me I cannot get any further.
Please could you reply to this and let me know if you have contacted your friend.
Regards Linda
