Hi,
The Dents of Crosby Ravensworth and Maulds meaburn are the same, they were and still are huge land owners and had built a mansion called Flass, at Maulds Meaburn. The church in C/R has a chapel dedicated to them and their own tomb beneath. There is an archives now in Crosby where you will be able to make an appointment and access your family tree.

Hello,
I have info on Robert Cowperthwaite, it is his wife I am struggling with, Agnes Thompson or Stringer, obviously married before she married Robert, I dont know, only has a daughter Mary Jane Stringer?
Also Agnes and Robert had a son Thomas, my gggrandfather and his wife also remains a mystery, Annie Knowles B1874.
I know the Cowperthwaites around Orton area are pretty common and have taken a lot of sorting, just hope i am on the right ones, any info really really appreciated.
Thankyou.

I am trying to find info on Robert Cowperthwaites (B.1826) wife Agnes Thompson or Stringer. I see she has a daughter Mary Jane Stringer.
Also drawn a blank on their sons wife Annie Knowles (B 1874) their son being Thomas Cowperthwate (B 17.6.1871-1930).
Would be gratefull, then can fill in remaining  GGGrandparents.
They are all believed to have lived in the Orton westmorland area.
Thanks.

Thank you, the Colman connection is correct. Why do you say Robert would be else where, do you mean work houses because we have had reference to this before.
Also I have copy of Robert Ritsons birth cert, how do I trace his mother as cannot find Keenans in westmorland, if she was from Ireland where do I look for her, can I research addresses?

Blimey that PC is fantastic I almost cried. Our house is in between Bridge End and Tenter Row, there is a small roof just visible (old garden shed) I believe that was the garden of tenter row. Yes the lady at Lyvennt has kennels still. I don't know if you are aware that there has been a calendar of CR and MM for the past couple of years but this year we have exhausted our photograph supplies and if you have some that we may not have used it would be absolutely fantastic for you to scan some for us.
Perhaps you could email them to me. I am wondering if you may know my family Robertson, Dawson, Savage.

ooops sorry for getting wrong end of the stick?
My grandparents lived at the smithy you talk about, latterly called Bridge End House, we lived next door in the bungalow which was also the post office once my grandmother retired. The Lyvennet you refer to is it just Lyvennet or Lyvennet Bank, maulds meaburn.

1881 places James Ritson in Kendal, born troutbeck 1865 aged 16 yrs. Therefore would be early thirties on birth of his son in 1899.
On his sons marriage cert he is deceased that was in 1920 and had been living in Tebay.
I knew from records that Robert was a boarder, but family members think he had a sister Gertrude but I have totally exhausted that one.

Hi, I lived at Crosby Ravensworth for 30 years  and cannot quite understand how Blasterfield Farm is in Staffield, penrith, my boss used to live there and it was in Orton parish, I don't mean to be rude but where did you find Staffield? as I have never heard of it before.
