Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / PAINSWICK WORKHOUSE 1885-1890
« on: Tuesday 29 March 11 14:23 BST (UK)  »
My great grandmother died in June 1885 Hester Farmiloe, think her children Lily born 1884 and siblings may have been put in the Painswick workhouse, have Lily in 1891 cencus as a boarder with the Hale family at 1 Bromfield?, Painswick. Lilys brothers emigrated to Canada how can I find out if they were sent by the workouse. Hester Farmiloe was in 1881 cencus living in Penn Lane, Kings Stanley with a Nathaniel Hurcombe. If anyone has any ideas that would be great, visited Painswick at weekend but workhouse is now town hall but was shut so was unable to find anything else out. Lily was baptised in Painswick on 24/3/1889 with the Hale family as god parents but don't think they were related, thank you.

Thank you for this information, have spent years searching for him and then suddenly decided that as he was a seaman that he probably died at sea, at least I know he wasn't alone when he met his end, thank you, this was most helpful.

My family are related to Nathanield Hurcombe who was an unmarried woolswiller who lived  in Kings Stanley, he had 6 children in 1881 cencus, Nathaniel aged 11, Harriet 12,George 9, Frederick Walter 7, Charles 4 and Lilly who was born in 1884, can anyone help me find out what happened to these relatives. The children were previously in name of Farmiloe but believe that they may have later been known by name of Hurcombe. Hester Farmiloe who also resided with him died in 1885. Thank you. I believe the address was either Pen or Fen Lane, Kings Stanley.
