Charles Bramble son of William and Hannah was born c. 1843 in Crawley, Hampshire, baptised 19 Feb 1843 also in Crawley. He married Johanna Lee 24 Dec 1864 in Crawley, she died in Rochford Essex in 1898. In the 1881 census Charles was a Cabinet Maker in Prittlewell, Essex so I think that he is not the Charles you are looking for.

Hannah Fossberry born 30 Jun 1809 in Overton and baptised the following day 1st July at Overton according to the parish records.

Her parents were James c.1780-? and Sarah Field C.1785-?

Your piece about Charles changing his name may make sense as he is the only child that I have been unable to trace.

I am conducting a surname study into Lefever and its variants some of the information is at https://le-fever.org. My paternal grandmother was a Lefever with her ancestors coming from the Bethnal Green area. I have tested my DNA and have the results on FTDNA, Ancestry, MyHeritage and also GedMatch. Check and see if we have any DNA in common. Let me know if I can help you with the Lefever research.

Thanks for the info, I will add it to my study. I knew that Sidney had been married before as on his marriage to Amelia he is recorded as a widower. Now I know who his first wife was, thanks for that.

Hi, I have Sidney Bertram Lefevre (1896 Edmonton, Middx. - 1969 Hastings, Sussex) in my tree marrying into my Spooner family. I believe his father was George Lefevre, no further info.

Jool

I have a Sidney Bertram in my records marrying an Amelia J Kenward in 1935 in Surrey, born in Edmonton and dying in Hastings. I have his father as George and his mother as Clara. I have a bit more about him including that he used Bertram rather than Sidney as his name.

Contact off line if you want any more.

The name does change over the years particularly outside of France. Lefebvre is a common variant in Canada and one that I am researching.
