Hi Maurice :)

Finally had time to sit down and read thorugh all the letters.... what a wonderful insight into their lives! Thank you so much for sharing them.

When I get time I'll definitely have a look inot where the Porters disappeared to, it might turn up something interesting!

Hi Maurice :)

Thanks for that! It certainly was an intersting read  :D

Unfortunately nothing of the family made it down my line, but with Henry being a convict I wouldn't have expected there to be anything anyway!

It could possibly be him. According to James' daughter's christening record, James was a Shoemaker in 1821. The age also fits with his birth.

I'd love to see that photo Maurice!!

Hi again Maurice :)

Yes Henry's branch does still live on. My maiden name is Rampling, I am descended from Henry Lloyd  (b 12th May 1856 in armidale, d 13th June 1938 in Barraba)  who married Louisa Palmer.

There are still a fair few of us around from Henry's branch here in NSW. I live in St Helens Park, about 45mins sw of Sydney.

I have compiled a fair bit on the NSW branch (Henry's line) but don't have much going back to England unfortunately.

Regards,
Sherrie

Hi Maurice!!

I live in Oz too!!

I was given some info a few years back which stated that James (b. 1825) was a convict who was sentenced to 15 yrs transportation to NZ??? Have never confirmed this though. Does this make sense to you?

Do you have any other information going back on the family, I am at a complete loss on it all!

Kind regards,
Sherrie

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Bateman - Reading Lookup please!
« on: Sunday 07 February 10 06:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm having a hard time trying to locate my ancestors and am getting frustrated!

What I have so far is Hannah May Bateman was born sometime between 1805-1812 in Reading Berkshire. According to the Australian immigration papers, her parents were William Bateman, and Sarah Mathews (I'm not entirely sure on her surmane though as it isn't real clear). According to her death certificate, her parents were William and Elizabeth, but I know that death certificates are not always true!

I found a Willam and Sarah Bateman on the 1841 census living near Reading, who were apprntly born in 1783 and 1790 respectively, so these could be her parents. They don't appear to be on the 1851 census though.

I've had a look on the LDS site, but the don't appear to have the Reading records for the time period I need, and they don't have anything on her parents either.

Can anyone help me please? It would be greatly appreciated!

Essex Lookup Requests / Great Wakering Parish Lookup Please
« on: Sunday 26 October 08 01:19 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I am trying to locate the birth/christening of Samuel Pasfield. According to his convict documentation, Samuel was born about 1789 in Great Wakering. I have nothing on him or his parents, and it is a branch of the family I would love to obtain more info on. The IGI has a submitted record which also states 1789, Great Wakering, but there is nothing listed on his parents, or dates, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
