I am interested in your KEY links.  I have that family in my tree in the St Breock area.  This comes under the registration area of St Columb, so we might have a match.

Check my website listed below, for Hart KEY m Agnes ROWE about 1845, if they are in your area of interest.

Thank you for your interest.  My ROWEs are from around Wadebridge/Egloshayle and North Cornwall.

Check my website for your lines, but I suspet that it will be hard to find a link.

I use Redhat and Ubuntu on different machines.

As I had a large amount of PC based software from ages ago I found a great way was to use Wine or Virtual Box to allow me to access PC products like Brothers Keeper.  Virtual Box is the best, with Windows XP as a virtual machine inside Ubuntu.  I run Brothers keeper on that and it is fantastic.

Family History Programs, Tree Organisation, Presentation / Re: Linux FH programmes?

I have just answered a similar query relating to Macs.

I have Mac, PC windows and Linux.  In order to be able to use common software I use an Apache/PHP/Mysql combination on the Mac and Windows and run Phpgedview on both. I use MAMP on the Mac and EasyPHP on Windows.   On Linux I use it with the webservice software installed running through 127.0.0.1.

All done offline and only on my machine.  Makes it easy to transfer data, and only one program to remember how to use.

I have used Macs ever since they first came out.  Which makes me very old.

I have a totally different approach which I have evolved over time due to the incredibly expensive software that is supplied for Macs.  I suppose that the software suppliers assume that if you can afford a Mac, you can afford to pay more for the software.

I use the combination of PhpGedview and MAMP.  MAMP loads Apache and PHP onto the Mac and lets me run a private offline  webserver.  I then use PhpGedview on my machine, as a website but totally offline and unconnected to my broadband.

I find it provides far more facilities that any of the expensive family history products, and is totally free.  You can then move it to a website when you want to.   Incidentally, I use exactly the same approach on a PC I have as well, it enables me to not have to worry about having different programs on different systems.

Happy to provide detailed instructions and help if anyone is brave enough to try this way.

Thank you for all the work you have put into my problem.

I have a copy of Richard Payne's Will, courtesy of Sue Hopkins, and there is certainly interesting information but unfortunately little applying to his ancestors.

The contents of a memorial tablet I have as a source on my website, listed below.  You will also be able to see what I have and have not in terms of information or lack of it relating to Richards parents.

I am also aware of the property in Kensington Square, and Gerard St, Soho, from the National Archives and the book by W H George on Richard Payne's grandson, Richard Payne Cotton.  I was not aware of your beautiful quote from Faulkner, that is a great addition.  Thank you.

My problem relates however more to where Richard Payne came from, I find it hard to believe that a successful doctor should not have equivalent family connections somewhere in a well documented form.  Thank you for your help in pointing the way.

Do you know where in Cornwall the particular families are based.  I have POLLARD, ROWE and WILLIAMS on my website noted below.  If you are related to any on my lists I would love to correspond.

I have used My Heritage, it is a GEDCOM based program.  It has a major disadvantage to me, in that it continually asks you to start up a website, and the pop up dialogue box asking this is default set to yes which you have to change or you end up on a website where they try to enroll you in their schemes.  The dialogue boxes cannot be removed.

The program provides good quality product, is easy to use except the most annoying pop up boxes.
