Thanks for the information. I'll have to hope that someone else has access to copies from the later period!

United States of America / Frances Nichols Hanna aka Fan Nichols
« on: Thursday 26 January 12 08:02 GMT (UK)  »
Seeking information about the author Fan Nichols whose married name was Frances Nichols Hanna. She wrote pulp fiction - tough hardboiled noire romances- she was published in the 1930s, 1940s and 50s , and I believe in the 60s. Fan lived New York in the late 40s and through the 50s. Probably born around 1914. She had been a song plugger in a Portland Oregon music shop ( ie a piano player who played the sheet music  in a music store to promote its sale) before going to New York. She had contacts in Hollywood, and may have written some film scripts during the 1950s/60s.
Any information about birth, family, marriage(s) ( known married name Hanna), husband, children, death would be welcome. Anything at all.
I have a full list of her books and stories, it is the personal information that I would love to have.
Many thanks, Maggie

United States of America / New York City Addresses 1945-1960
« on: Thursday 26 January 12 04:56 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for the addresses of my great uncle John Vickery in New York city during the period 1945-1960. These may be in a a phone directory of the period, or similar. I know he had the phone on at these addresses.
John Vickery was an Australian who was both a commercial artist and a painter who worked with the Abstract Expressionists during the late 40s, early 50s.
He had a studio somewhere on Lexington Ave 1945-1948 in same building as a illustrator Sam Savitt. This was a 4 storey walkup building. I would like to know that address.
He was then in Brooklyn ( Brooklyn Heights I think) for next 2 years, until 1949. Again would like that address.
In late 1949 he was at the only address I have, which was 20 West Tenth St until 1956 (with Phiilip Guston). That building was demolished and he was then somewhere downtown until 1960. I would like that address as well. He then moved to Califon, New Jersey. Many thanks .

« on: Monday 29 August 11 01:54 BST (UK)  »
Dear Tony, We were in contact about a year or so ago and exchanged information when I was seeking information about the Royals family in particular Egbert. You sent me information on Dorothy then, which was very helpful. Subsequently Steve, who has responded to your post and I worked together on the family as we were both investigating Egbert. I'll leave it to Steve to fill you in.
Thank you for offering to help.
Regards,

Maggie
