Hi shellyesq,

Wow, thank you very much.   You have provided a lot of information to previously unanswered questions. One puzzling issue was the only marriage I could find for Ellis Woods was a marriage to Anne Lymer in 1884 in Burslem St. John, Staffordshire, England and found it confusing that the 1900 US  census referred to his wife as Sarah. Your 1895 New Jersey State census referring to Anna seems to provide the answer. I would be grateful for any information you can provide in relation to the family.

Ellis Woods was the son of Ellis Woods christened 2 Apr 1835, Malpas Cheshire, England and his wife Elizabeth Sutton born about 1833 in Marbury Cheshire England, they married in 1855 Burslem St. John, Stoke on Trent, England.  There has been further confusion in that there was a second Ellis Woods (AKA Ellies Woods) in the Woods line born also in 1864, but in Marbury Cheshire England.  He married Sarah Elizabeth Aldersea on 10 Dec 1889, Nantwich, Cheshire, England and they had seven children. The second Ellis "Ellies" Woods was the sone of William Woods christened 22 May 1827, Malpas, Cheshire, England and Harriet Evans born 1839 Whitchurch, Shropshire, England.

Can anyone assist with immigration records/information of Ellis Woods born Tunstall by Stoke Upon Trent, Staffordshire, England, christened 1864, to the US.  1900 US census records show that he was in Trenton City, Mercer, New Jersey, USA, states he was born Feb 1865, had been married 16 years to wife Sarah, year of marriage 1884 in England, Immigration year 1886, Tinsmith by occupation.  They had two children born in the US Mary Woods born 1888, and Fredrick Woods born 1894.
The 1881 British census shows Ellis Woods, 17 old, apprentice tinsmith,  son of Elizabeth Woods, widow, living 74 Rathbone Street, Wolstanton, Stafford, England.

Hi Chris,
I am researching my g/g/g/g/grandparents William Woods born about 1743, and his wife Sarah (surname unknown) born about 1780.  Both were buried in May 1820, St. Oswalds Church, Malpas and their children William Woods christened same church 1781, Thomas Woods christened 1783, Randle Woods christened 1786, Samuel Woods christened 1788, another Samuel Christened 1789, Ralph Woods born about 1793, all at St. Oswalds, can you please assist with marriage of William and Sarah Woods, I assume, but am not sure they would have married at St. Oswalds Church, Malpas.

Regards,
Big Kev

My g/g/g/g/grandparents;  William Woods born about 1743 and his wife Sarah born about 1780 were both buried in the cemetery, St. Oswalds Church, Malpas, Cheshire, in 1820. Can anyone assist with information as to whether there is a headstone index for this burial ground, or other simple method of locating the graves.
