The Lighter Side / Re: BBC TV "WDYTYA?" Series 10 Episode 8 Celia Imrie

I really enjoyed it! (And yes, more awfully, rahhly middle clarse women please, BBC)

The State papers showing more scandal than Take A Break or Closer would dare print were a revelation too.

I am reminded of a girl from school who had a child (whilst still at High School, heh), who she called "Christian"

Some years later, I bumped into her, caught up on one or two things. She'd married a fella with the surname........Christian.

"Does that mean....is your youngest called Christian Christian?"

She assured me he wasn't but I was never sure....

Her story better not be as confusing as River Song's storylines on Doctor Who  ;D

Thanks all  :D

I'm still unsure whether I should go back or try to "move forward", filling in off-shoots and that sort of thing. I'm just happy to be back, though :)

The Lighter Side / Back into the forest of family tree

Afternoon RC

I used to be around here years ago, looking further and further back into my Welsh side of the family tree. Lots of help here for which I'm grateful.

Now back with the bug so will try to have a peruse. Seems that almost all the useful sites have been gobbled up for subscription purposes but I'm sure there's way rounds that  :) ;) :)

I'll update my sig and start requesting info if I need any as soon as :D

Cheshire / Re: Schofield (b. 1833, I think)

Did I ever tell you that I love this forum?

That's brilliant, thank you very much.  The name Reuben rings a bell, think there's a relative further down the tree with that name. Good work y'all, thanks :)

Cheshire / Schofield (b. 1833, I think)
« on: Wednesday 17 June 09 09:07 BST (UK)  »
If what I have done so far (and got through Rootchat and other places, of course) is accurate, I have traced a William Schofield, a cork cutter living in Preston around 1881 census.

He is the husband of Catherine Schofield, who I believe is Irish (the classic census phrase "Born - Ireland", I'm afraid).

All things being correct, one of their daughters is Mary Theresa, from whom I have a Ruth, from whom is my grandmother eventually.

I would love any more info on William - I think born around 1833, in Chester. With some of his children born in Preston, some in Ireland, he must have travelled to or from with his wife, if I'm right.  Any guidance on how to follow William further back would be appriciated.

Many thanks

fourteen-nineteen.net I /think/ it is. He makes every last possible check you could possibly make, it's very thorough indeed. Just a shame that after a month of checking, my rellie doesn't seem to exist!

I am going to make the best of this, though. A bit of ''little grey cells'' should find something...I /hope/
