okay, thats interesting!
this lady had children  1850,51,53,55,57,60,62  and 1865, and I have a photo of her looking a lot different than this and heavily pregnant, will have to post it up too.

The studio in the second photo was set up in the 1860's, so I figure this has to be her 1865 baby :)

Good to see I am on the right track with my sleuthing...it is an absorbing and fascinating challenge.
I am thinking very seriously about getting hold of a couple of good resource books and learning more  :D

Hi all,
I have had a bit of a look around different suggested websites to help me with a timeframe for this photo.
I am helping a lady who is onboard this forum but can not seem to get her attachments to post.
My un-informed estimate for this picture is mid 1870's, because of the slightly rounded edges of the card, the type of ink work used in the design and the severe hair style with ears... how did I go???
but I could be very wrong too!!

sorry Prue, I am so used to the wonderful people on here posting up so very quickly, I thought I may have been overlooked in the weekend rush.
I was sent the photo as a 49k attachment so struggled to get it up to size.
Will have to read more and get it easier to be worked on, failing the sender being able to re-scan for me  :)
