Your John McLaren is my half Great Great Uncle and he seems to have been a bit of an character.

He was married twice but never got divorced from Mary Ann Duggan.

I have a relation who was coming over for a family reunion but on his other side of the family they had lived on a farm that my Father ended up owning but my brother sold it and the people who had taken over ran it as a B & B so the relation through me was able to stay in the farmhouse where his ancestors came from.

Also I had been in contact with a member of my paternal side of the family and I had said to them anytime you are in the area are welcome to come and see us, well she must have told a cousin and they were the ones who turned up on my parents doorstep who lived round corner from me.  I promised them the tree and I feel really bad as I have never sent it to them, I will one of thes days.

Would some kind person be able to help me where I would be able to find records of this home.  I think this is where my Mother went after her Mother died but not certain, she always said she went to a boarding school but about 2 months before she died she said it was a children's home and we know she went to Haddington.

Well when I started going out with my husband I found out that his parents shared the same birthday and discovered it was the same day as my Mother's and my Mother and his Dad were born in the same year. 

We had a son and he was born on his Dad's birthday which was really amazing so the poor boys have to share their birthdays.

But the other weird fact in the family is that my husband's Dad died on the 28th Sept and then I had done research before he had died and found out his Father had died on that day and also his Grandmother on the same side had died on that day so the 28th Sept is not a good day in his family now.
