At Darlington C of F E in 1963  was A Mr Hammond    The College Principal at the time was C E Beynon
Head of Engineering Mr Emerson      Mr Hammond was either Deputy Principal or Deputy Head of Engineering  I can't recall Mt Hammond's christian name  He had a built up shoe He was a good teacher and he might have been a distant relative,   There was more than one family of Hammond in Darlington at that time  Hope somebody can recall him

Corps wasn't a middle name as Carole supposes it is now the family name  I have since found the 'missing link' as I called it.   And yes I had researched his mother

Thanks for replying CarolW    You are right That is the family  Born William Corps he took his mother's husband's name upon marriage  He did marry Bridget Peel after moving to Cumberland and I have details of his children  It is the link between him in Cumberland and the records on Scotland's People that I am trying to locate  There are births to a Corps-Bell mother so maybe an unmarried mother  there are records relating to a Noeline/Noelene Corps-Bell  (various spellings of Noeline) and an Australian death record relating to her  Only a name for a Corps-Bell child that links to to her will confirm identity  I was in contact with a relative of earlier Corps-Bell but William rarely showed up at family gatherings and contact was minimal almost to the point of non-existence If I could establish which Corps-Bell went to Scotland then the link would be complete.  Here's hoping

There are Corps members that married in and around Barton upon Humber over a period of aprox 100 years  (ans surrounding districts)
Has anybody come across ant Corps' in their family searches  I am trying to establish a connection to the North Yorkshire Corps families
Hopefully this will mean something to some of you       Regards Jim Corps of North Yorkshire

:( Is there anybody researching Lincolnshire families that have Corps in their trees   Around Barton upon Humber there are Corps marriages but I don't have brides names to cross match with There are also a couple in the Gainsborough area  These are mostly 18th century marriages that I have not been able to tie in my tree but feel sure that there is a link  Hopefully somebody else will be wondering about unconnected Corps'  The spellings could be Corps, Corpes, Corpse or even Coupes
Here's hoping
Jim Corps :)
