Huntingdonshire Lookup Requests / Re: Allen family of Brampton

Hello to all,

I found this thread whilst Googling for information on the Allen family of Brampton. Not sure if it is of interest to anyone, but Robert Allen, whom this thread began with, had a brother John (also mentioned previously). This John married Charlotte Allen, from a completey seperate set of Allens as far as I can tell. This other set of Allens are the ancestors of my own family and I have an ever-growing tree containing Charlotte's brother Thomas, and many generations from him directly down to me! If anyone is interested in sharing info in this area, please post and let me know :)

Huntingdonshire Lookup Requests / Brampton Birth/Marriage Records - ALLEN
« on: Saturday 04 October 08 12:15 BST (UK)  »
I am currently researching the Allen family tree in Brampton and have got back as far as the late 1700s.

Rachael Allen, born abt 1778, had two children - Thomas, born abt 1806 and Charlotte born abt 1817

I am unable to find a husband for Rachael / father for her children - can anyone please help me with a record of their birth, or possibly a marriage for Rachael if one occurred???

I believe Allen may be an unmarried name for Rachael, as I found a Christian Bird with her on the 1841 census, and a list of Marriage Allegations brought up a 1777 marriage between a Christian Hanger (born abt 1761) and Thomas Allen, then a 1808 marriage between a Christian Allen and a Benjamin Bird.

Any further information about any of the above marriages and/or births would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance :)
