Hello again Jill,

Thanks for looking up for me.

I `guessed' the christening of John Hoyle from his marriage to Elizabeth Scholefield in 1775 by knocking 21 years off.

The marriage took place at Huddersfield so the `Amos one'  could well be mine.

Cheers,

Nige :)

Please can someone do a look up for the christening of John Hoyle.
he was born c1754 and lived at Scammonden/Deanhead.
The christening could have been at either Slaithwaite or huddersfield.

Thanks,

Nige :)

Hi Claire,

I have a Joseph Hoyle of Stainland bn 1831 son of Joshua Hoyle (1786 Deanhead).

If any of yours `strayed' into the Colne Valley area (Golcar/Scammonden/Linthwaite Slaithwaite etc) of Huddersfield, there is a great website by Steve Whitwam.
http://www.whitwam.co.uk/
Steve has indexed practically all the Colne valley and has some good links.

Thanks again brer.

The James you found is the son of the James I am looking for.

I'm going to put a post on to see if anyone can locate him elsewhere in Halifax.

I can't help noticing that you are researching Hoyles from Yorkshire. Mine are from Scammonden, where are yours from?

Nige :)

Thank you brer for checking the Kirkburton and St. Peters marriages for me.
The William Quarmby/Elizabeth Baxter looks to be the best bet so far.

Jill,

Thanks for clearing up a few things for me regarding the IGI.

I didnt know that you were able to request copies of the actual record from west yorks archive service.

I will pay a visit to the HDFHS website.

Any help I get is always gratefully received, there is always something to learn in family history.

Thanks again.

Nigel :)

Jill,

Thanks for your efforts, it's very much appreciated.

I've been checking on the IGI and can't find any records for the christening of William or his possible marriage (1796).

What is different between your records and the IGI. I'm just being inquisitive really.

Thanks again,

Nige :)

Jill,

Thanks a lot that's great.

William of Holehouse is mine, the family lived there for the next 100years or so.
From 1805ish the family had children christened at Linthwaite Methodist, so I was looking at the Huddersfield/Almondbury records.
It's taken more than 10 years to find this out, so I'm really pleased.

William was married to `Betty' c1800 but I've never found the marriage. Do you have the records for marriages, if so I would be most grateful if you could help.

Thanks again.

Nige :) :)
