Anne, sorry about the delay in replying to your post. There is a possibility that my Ferrys came from Dunlewey but I won't know for certain until further research is carried out.

Good luck with your research.

This might not be exactly what you are looking for but I think you will find it of interest. http://www.oldandnewedinburgh.co.uk/volume4/page58.html. The pages can be enlarged and printed.

There is some more information here: http://gdl.cdlr.strath.ac.uk/haynin/haynin1401.htm

Midlothian / Re: Which Cemetery ?
« on: Sunday 04 January 09 21:37 GMT (UK)  »
Lynda,
The lady at Mortonhall was a great help. Unfortunately there were no records of any of my ancestors being buried in council owned cemeteries but the lady emailed me a list of the privately owned cemeteries in Edinburgh and I found the staff on these companies most helpful too. I finally was able to locate the graves I was looking for. Unfortunately none of them have head stones. However, I am pleased that I now know where my great grandfathers are buried.

Thanks again,

George

I suggest you contact West Lothian Cemeteries team on 01506 775240 (http://www.westlothian.gov.uk/law-licensing/640/648/CemeteryandBurialgrounds) to see if your ancestors are buried in Mid Calder.

In response to Akwaaba's post re: making contact with http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/internet/City_Living/Life_events/Deaths/CEC_cemeteries_and_churchyards, I would also recommend this. I have contacted these people on several occasions and found them to be very helpful. The ancestors I was researching were not buried in council cemeteries but the lady who answered my inquiries sent me a list of private cemeteries. I contacted them and they also were very helpful. I now know where my ancestors are buried. Unfortunately, none of them have headstones.
