I have a note written on my John Mincher page that Dudley does not have these records. However i think I might try again to see if they can make any suggestions about where else I can try.
Thanks for your help.

Dear Willow X
Thanks for your reply.
That first web site
www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/Search.pl
is very good.  it is a new one for me.
As you say there are quite a few Minchers there. ......and I thought the name 'Mincher' was rare!
Thanks

Staffordshire / John Mincher transported to America
« on: Friday 26 September 08 08:30 BST (UK)  »
I have been looking for this poor John Mincher who -
Ref. Bonded passengers to America -P.W. Coldham
'JOHN MINCHER –
Sentenced to be transported to the American colonies for 7 years for stealing malt at DUDLEY.
Summer 1764'.
I have written this note -
'NB Dudley does not have these records. – possibly Dudley was in the Oxford Circuit'
Can anyone advise where and how I can find details of the court case of John Mincher?
 Many thanks

Staffordshire / Re: Old Meeting House Dudley - at the Park

I started writing a reply and then lost it!
This is a second go.
I followed the advice above and ordered the CD on Non-Parochial registers for Dudley 1656 - 1837 and only found the information which I had already found on the IGI for the five children of John Mincher and Phebe baptised 1758 to 1764. I had hoped to find the marriage information of John and Phebe. It is included in some cases but not here.
The baptismal information is standard and for three of the children it just says 'OF DUDLEY'.
However the first two children the info. differs and it says 'AT THE PARK'.
Interesting! I am wondering if there is anyone with knowledge of Dudley who can explain this phrase.
I also wondered if this query belongs to Worcs. but when I did a Wikipedia search I found out that Dudley for many years, formed part of an exclave of Worcestershire entirely surrounded by Staffordshire.
Thank you

Well I am new to this game so hope that this message is in the right place.  My apologies if it is wrong and perhaps some kind soul will set me right.
I see many people are having trouble accessing old parish records but so far I haven't seen any mention of the Old Dudley Meeting House (I see the church is still in existence now). Living in furthest Cornwall it is difficult to visit Dudley archives.  Is there anything on line? I haven't found anything yet.
I am looking for baptism records of MINCHER baptisms going from Phoebe Mincher 1758 to Hannah (Nancy) 1764.
I have particular interest in John Mincher 1761 who we think (poor soul) was the John who was transported to America for stealing malt.
I should be happy to hear from anyone who has an interest in the Mincher family of BILSTON, TIPTON, WEDNESBURY.
Thanks. Do we sign off with our user name?-

Staffordshire / Old Meeting House Dudley

I am a new member - well a returned member after a long absence.
I know that some of my husband's Mincher family were baptised in the Old meeting House Dudley  from Phoebe in 1758 to Hannah (Nancy) in 1764.
I am particularly interested in John 1761 who we think was transported for 7 years to America for stealing barley.
I should be very interested to hear from anyone who is researching this family.
Have these Baptismal records been transcribed does anyone know?  I think they may be in the Staffordshire record Office. Miriam M
