Family History Beginners Board / Re: Earl of Lisburne

Regretably no,  she must have joined the household some time later.  I have a lead that a Mary Parry was in service in Birkenhead in 1851.  I am almost convinced but , and there is always a but... If only there was a record of servants at Crosswood during the years 1851 to 1857 when she was married to my Gt Gdfather

A lister who has both Ancestry and The genealogist found him at 48 Green Street with his much smaller household, than he had at Crosswood in Cardiganshire
On Ancestry Ernest Vaughan came up as Ednecht Bayhan!!  So much for their transcription.. I would have never found him.

Many thanks for your interest and reply.

Family History Beginners Board / Earl of Lisburne

Ernest Augustus Vaughan, 4th Earl of Lisburne, is recorded as being in London when the 1851 census was taken.  I have searched the 1851 on Ancestry but failed to find him.  Can anyone throw any light on this.. I am trying to find what members of his household were with him and his wife in the hope that my Gt Gdmother who was in service with them, just happens to be with them.

Thanks to all who may read this.

Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Re: Rector of Llangwfan 1830 - 1857

May I echo the comment from ainslie, I never thought when I originated my enquiry about my Gr gdmother Maria Parry as to how she was working in the Rectory at Llangwfan in 1841.  I had a gut feeling that there must have been a connection with Llanrhiadr yng Ngh and reading the all the information she must have found a good home at the Rectory in Llangwfan.  It is always good to fill the background to an ancesters life especially in their early days.
Maria had moved away  by 1851, to where I do not know but by 1857 she had married my Gt Gdfather.  at the time of her marriage she was in service at the Vaughans house at Trawscoed (Crosswood) at Llanafan.
Once again I join in the round of virual appalause. Diolch l am fawr.

May I thank all the contributors who have writtten on the above.  It is fascinating reading and makes me more convinced that the Roberts family connection is the reason how my Gt Gdmother came to be working at the Llangwfan Rectory in 1841.  She was born in Llanreadr yng Ngh. abt 1823 and was obviously known and could be trusted as a servant.  Strangely I cannot find a record of her baptism, which is strange as she went to work for a clergyman, and  I would have thought it would have been a requisite for employment in his household.

Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Rector of Llangwyfan 1830 - 1857
« on: Monday 20 October 08 22:09 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am trying to establish whether the Rev. Robert Lloyd Roberts, rector of Llangwyfan in 1830 - 1837,  was in the adjoining parish of Llanrheadr yng Nghinmeirch as a Curate in the years around 1829.
The reason I ask this is that on the 1851 census his son another Robert was born in Llanrheadr in 1829.

Thankyou for reading this

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / GRIFFITHS of Rock House Bwllfa, Rhondda
« on: Sunday 19 October 08 18:44 BST (UK)  »
The 1891 census for Rock House, Ystradyfodwg, seems to have ommited my WILLIAM GRIFFITH as Head of household, the following entry is that of David Griffiths his son, and ending with two in laws, name of Edmunds, who I now know to be Williams inlaws of his late wife's family.
Is this likely to be a fault of the enumerator in recording the household OR is he hiding from me.  Please if you can help me find him.

Thankyou for reading this

Cardiganshire Lookup Requests / MARIA(H) PARRY of Crosswood
« on: Sunday 19 October 08 18:36 BST (UK)  »
I am seeking MARIA(H) PARRY who when she married in 1856 gave CROSSWOOD as her place of residence.   I have failed to find her on the 1851 census so far.  In 1841 she was employed as a servant with the Rector of Llangwyfan in Denbigh...  after her marriage in 1856 she lived at LLANAFAN.

Has anyone seen her?

Regards to all who reads this
