Hi! My mother, Ellen Brown, nee  Ellen Paterson Elder Gilroy, Had a cousin called Jeanie Guthrie. I met her a few times in Broughty Ferry when she came to visit my mum. I remember her husband had ms and was latterly confined to a wheelchair.
Best wishes, David Brown.

Wow! I may have Rob Roy as an ancestor!!!!
Seriously though, I was thinking 'prominent person' that may have been a benefactor. DRG Berry's father, Alexander goes from 'farm servant'/'grieve' to 'inn-keeper'. It seems a big leap. I don't know which inn it was round Burrelton/Cargill, but know DRG Berry eventually relocated to Edinburgh where he owned a pub in the High Street.
Thanks
Sandra

Hi
My info is from Scotland's People: 1881 census W Whitfield Fm Cott Cargill; 1891 census W Kinnochtry Cott, Scone, Cargill. Alexander was a grieve Ann was a farm grieve's wife.
The Mary Rintoul I found was 1871 death (Scotland's People) Trinity Gask Perth - father Alexander (farmer) I had wondered if my Alexander worked for a Gregor Rintoul. Or if Rintoul was a place?

Alexander's parents were Archibald Berrie b 19/11/1817 Ferryport on Craig; and Margaret Wilson 22/12/1818 St Andrews

Ann's parents were: David Innes (a ploughman) and Jessie Wilkie.

Thanks for helping.
Sandra

Hi Diddy & Gadget my grandad was David Rintoul Gregor Berry (born 24/11/1884 Whitefield, Cargill, Perthshire). His parents were Alexander Berry (20/2/1855, Ferryport on Craig; died 1936 Laurelbank Cargill, Perth) and Ann Wilkie Innes (b 1853 Kirriemuir, Forfar; died 1934 Burrelton, Cargill, Perth).
I can't find a reason for my grandfather's middle names being 'Rintoul Gregor'. There doesn't seem to be anyone of that name in the family.
The only Rintoul/Gregors I found were: death of a Mary Gregor Rintoul 1871 daughter of Alexander Rintoul; but can find no connection.
Any suggestions as to why he would have these names?

Elspeth Simpson b 4/5/1792 died 1870 also Ferryport on Craig. I am guessing he was a farm worker - but wondered if anyone else has info?

I'm looking for details of Janet Wallace, born about 1831 in Fife, married to farmer, John Brown, born about 1830, with a son called William Brown born about 1857. Details of any family members? Thanks, David Wallace Brown.
