Lincolnshire / RHOADES Ancestry
« on: Thursday 13 November 08 10:21 GMT (UK)  »
My query is about Elizabeth RHOADES b c1808 and baptised 27 March 1808 in
St George, Stamford, Lincolnshire, d 12.12.1881 in Casterton Magna, Lincolnshire.  The information I have is that Elizabeth had a number of children.  Elizabeth had a partner Thomas ASKEW, one offspring that I know of from this partnership - Sarah Ann RHOADES b 16.04.1834, she seemed to have married John LAWSON c1830 and there is a child, Thomas Lawson RHOADES b c1830 but it would appear to have been after Thomas LAWSON was born that they married as the sirname is RHOADES not LAWSON. There is another partner unknown name and this partnership produced William b 23.4.1846 d 25.2.1847 and finally Elizabeth appears to have married Thomas ATKINS 18.11.1849.  Her name is listed as Elizabeth COLE also.  I would be very interested to find out where the COLE name came from and also all the children she had or any other information that could be available about Elizabeth.  Thank you in anticipation,
Badgen.

Thankyou Richard,
That is just wonderful that you have found and recorded all that information. I will note it in my ancestry and thankyou once again and I look forward to hearing more from you.  There's been three of us looking for information on the Nichols family so you have no idea how wonderful it is that you have so much.
Thankyou.

Thankyou RichardK for that information it sheds an awful lot of light on why I kept coming to a dead end.  I had hoped that if I could get their marriage date I would be able to get a marriage certificate and find out from that who their parents and possibly families were.  I have nothing on Daniel Nichols parents but I had a possible for the parents of Susan and that being Francis Warner and Mary Swallow.  It looks like that has been confirmed now but I don't have Maria on the list with the rest of the siblings.  Do you have any more information that you would like to share about this family?  I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do but I will give you my email address if it makes it correspondence any easier. Thankyou so much for the information.

I am searching for the marriage date of Daniel NICHOLS b c1834 Gustard Wood, Wheathamstead, Hertfordshire, d 1896 Wheathamstead, and Susan WARNER b c1835 Harpenden, Hertfordshire, d 1871 No Mansland, Wheathamstead.  It appears their eldest child was born (William) in 1858 at Wheathamstead so the marriage is possibly around 1858.  Sometimes the Nichols sirname is spelt with two L's and I have seen the Warner name spelt Warren and it appears to be by the dates etc the same person.  Daniel Nichols also had a second wife Maria Wright, m 1871.
Thanking you,
Badgen.

I don't know when they were married but I have found out that Janet Aitken was born 11 February 1896 and died 14 March 1962.  John Cameron was born possibly in Brisbane.  They had a child John in 1926 so it is possible they were married around that time.  This 1926 John was born in Melbourne so that is confusing me a little.

Thanks jorose, I'm not sure where Janet AITKEN was born.  John Cameron (husband) was born in Australia but his ancestors were born in Scotland, so there is a possibility she could be from Scotland too or her ancestry.

Is there anybody out there who can give me some information on Janet Petterson Curry Wallace AITKEN (married John CAMERON).  She was possibly born around 1896 and I am looking for information on her parents, grandparents etc.  Thankyou.

Thankyou to all of you.  I have found them on the bcc site so I will now visit their graves to see what more I can glean from there.
