For all thoise interested in Austen family history or indeed any memorials inside this Church - get in quick.
The current plan is to "modernise" the church to make it more "accessable and flexible", in other words they are planning to materially change the interior in order to rent out the space for parties, concerts etc. So the risk of some drunken teenager swilling booze over an Austen memorial is now a real possibility.
Don't be suprised if they are "removed for safe keeping".
I'm not sure if there are any plans to remove all the family memorials but I would not be suprised if they disappear over time.
So better get in and do your research now.
Sorry about this news but this is modern England, anything over ten years old seems to be targetted for destruction - Pol Pot would be proud.
