Hi

sorry, this relates to a previous post from you on 4th October 08.  Ralph and Eleanor's surname was Hull.  I might have misunderstood but did they have their own gravstones?

Thanks  :)

Thanks Adamand

Ralph and Eleanor are both Hulls - married in Willington, Brancepeth on 11th Nov 1708.

Is there anything else on the inscriptions for these 2?

Thanks

South Africa / Re: Hulls of Romaldkirk in South Africa oops Yorkshire COMPLETED!

Well, I must admit it would have been brilliant to have South African settler ancestors, but all in all it was more amusing than disappointing!  I'm just glad I'd only been researching for one week...  ;D

Mystery solved.  "West Skeen, Bank, Transvaal" turns out to be "West Scoon Bank, Yorkshire."

What a waste of time, I've been trying to research this all week  ::)

Lol, just realised you've just solved another big mystery Claire!

I found a website which claimed my ggg-granddad's daughter was born in "West Skeen, Bank, Transvaal, South Africa".

I spent weeks trying to find out why my ancestors would have been in the Transvaal in 1800, trawling through passenger lists, all to no avail...

 :)

Scoon Bank is in the same parish as some of my other ancestors!  Brilliant!

Thanks Claire, that's given me plenty to go on

Hm... Scoonbank is definitely in the right place though.  I think you're right.  Even despite the handwriting.
