Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Re: Street Name in Old Colwyn
« on: Thursday 11 December 08 18:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Joe.  I've been researching my son-in-law's mother's family.  She is Wendt T. (Williams) Laufer, the granddaughter of Elizabeth Isabella Owen.  Of course, Elizabeth is the sister of William Samuel Owen, your father.  Incidentally, Maragaret Teresa (Thomas) Pepe died September 5 of last year.  I'd love to talk more about the Owens line and exchange ingo.  Please contact me off line at (*).

Denbighshire / Re: Williams & Kendrick in Wrexham

I bow have William Williams and Eliza Kendrick, married 11 March, 1895 in Gwersyllt, Wales but their first child, Herbert, seems to have been born in 1913.  Anyone have any idea that could explain the delay?  That seems like a long time even if we consider miscarriages or child deaths shortly after birth.

Thank you so much for the information.  If you could find if the street still exists I'd appreciate it.  I'm researching the family of my son-in-law's mother.  She came to the USA in 1952 at the age of 4 years and has no recollection of Wales.  My son-in-law would like to give her a "family tree" for Mother's Day next year and asked me to help.

The newspaper article says that his great-grandmother, Elizabeth (Owen) Thomas (a widow), lived at "2 Cerniew Terrace, Old Colwyn".  Her youngest daughter, Margaret, had married an American GI, Joseph Pepe, and arrived at her new home in Utica, New York, USA in 1946.  If I could find the location on Google Earth, it would be nice to include a picture with the research.

Thank you so much for the responses.  My son-in-law asked me to research his mother's family.  She has very little knowledge of her Welsh roots having been only 4 years old when she came to the USA.  My son-in-law would like to give her a "family tree" for Mother's Day next year.

Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Street Name in Old Colwyn

I have a street address from a 1946 newspaper that says an ancestor lived in Creniew Terrace, Old Colwyn (possibly Cernlew?) but I can't find in on any maps.  Is the address an error, has the street name been changed or does the street no longer exist?  Anyone know??

Flintshire Lookup Requests / Thomas, Owen, Jones, MacDonald in Old Colwyn

Researching the family of Leslie H. Thomas (?-1927) and Elizabeth I. Owen (1897 in Wales-1967 in USA).  Elizabeth's obituary says she was born in Old Colwyn, Wales and was the daughter of Richard and Jane (Davis) Owen.  She is survived by, among others, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Jones and Mrs. Freda MacDonald, both of North Wales.  Is it possible that descendants of Mary Jones and Freda MacDonald, or the Thomas, Davis and Owen families, are still living in the Old Colwyn area?

Denbighshire / Williams & Kendrick in Wrexham

I'm attempting to trace the family of George Williams (born in Wrexham, Wales in 1919 - died in Clinton, New York, USA in 1987).  According to his obituary, he was the son of William Williams(?-?)  and Eliza Kendrick (?-?).  I believe they were both born and died in Wales but not sure if they were natives of Wrexham.  George married Joyce Thomas (1921-1993) at St. Catherine Church in Old Colwyn, Wales in 1941 and came to the USA in 1952.  Joyce's mother, Elizabeth (Owen) Thomas followed in 1960.
