Ah ha! Register Bills, I reckon. https://www.suffolkarchives.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Ancestry-FAQ-Final.pdf - which is worth a read in itself

Suffolk / RB in National Index of Parish registers: Suffolk?
« on: Tuesday 24 June 25 12:31 BST (UK)  »
I'm just delving into Anthony Wilcox's Suffolk volume in the National Index of Parish Registers and am utterly flummoxed. What does RB stand for? It's not in the lists of abbreviations, and my imagination is just not up to the challenge (she said sheepishly)! It appears consistently between OR (Original parish registers) and BT (Bishops Transcripts). Can anyone enlighten me please?

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Ixworth bp PR (original not transcr) - Charles NUNN
« on: Friday 21 August 20 11:25 BST (UK)  »
Is there a kindly being out there with access even in these distracted times to the original baptism PRs for Ixworth? Repeat, original not transcriptions!

I am looking for Charles Nunn, the son of Samuel Nunn and Mary Beach.

Saml and Mary married in 1765 at Ixworth Shelland and moved to Ixworth. They had maybe 9 identifiable children, all bp Ixworth, between 1766 and 1782, none of them named Charles. According to transcriptions, two of the children were named George, bp 13 Sept 1772 and 3 March 1782. I have been able to kill off George 1772 (he died in 1849 age 76: it's his will that identifies a brother Charles, as well as other better-documented relatives). But what then of George 1782... I first thought it might be a case of a hidden private baptism of George in 1772 followed belatedly by his public bp or reception into the church in 1782. Hmmm.
Now, another bright idea. I wonder if one of those Georges is in fact Charles, misnamed either in the transcriptions or - perish the thought - in the baptism register itself. Please could sks doublecheck this in the original Ixworth PR for Sept 1772 and March 1782?
Many thanks

Suffolk / Re: hannah

Hello Julie,
Well, as you've posted on the Suffolk board I'm guessing your Hannah was a Suffolk lass! If so, then I can find only 2 Hannah's with parents John & Diana baptised in Suffolk over the period 1780 +/-5. One was Hannah Slater, who was baptised 7 March 1779 Glemsford St Mary. The other was Hannah Ward 22 Feb 1778 Baylham St Peter. (But that, of course, is assuming Hannah and her parents were Church of England. If she was nonconformist then it's a totally different ballgame trying to find her.)
Does either of those names ring any bells?

Thanks for that, Mobo.
What a characterful church.
Your beautiful photo prompted me to go looking as outliers in my famhist had connections with Siddington. There are various photos both of the exterior and amazing interior and a history of the church on the website http://www.siddingtonchurch.co.uk/index.html - further testament to its uniqueness. (That info's for the benefit of other chatters - I much expect you've already seen them!).

It might also be worth your while posting on the Flintshire, Denbighshire and Sussex boards. See my PMs.

Sandra,
I might be able to help you, even if only indirectly. As there might be issues of privacy, I've PM'd you.

I will have to go to the library to get Findmypast access to look at the wills.
If you can get access to FindMyPast then you'll also be able to find images of Cheshire PRs and BTs: bp's, marriages and burials. An invaluable resource. Usefully, the PRs overlap to some extent with the civil registers that began in 1837 (as found in GRO).

... and google <farr sandbach norbury new monthly magazine> . This pinpoints where Samuel who married Mary Norbury lived. It could possibly provide a clue when looking into his father John's bp (and also the bp's of John's siblings as eg named in his will) and distinguishing them from all the other Sandbach Farr's. I'll say no more - it'd spoil the fun. But let me know if you get stuck.
