Hertfordshire / Re: SEARLE family in Bishop's Stortford area in 18thC
« on: Friday 18 February 11 04:58 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

My Searle line are from Bishops Stortford.

George Searle born 1816 in BS  to Wm Searle and Sarah Savil.

Wm and Sarah were married in Takeley in 1798.
A son Charles was born in Takeley in 1798,  the rest of the children in BS.

Williams parents were Thomas Searle and Hannah Gilby married in Stansted Mountfitchet and were  in BS from 1779 onwards.

Any connections.
Can send more info on the family lines offline if you are interested.

We also have 2 Searle relatives in the Searle yDNA project, but no matches yet.
Would love to get some more Essex/Herts Searles in the project to see who is connected or not.

cheers
Frances

Essex Lookup Requests / Little Bromley PR lookup 1750/60s Please.
« on: Friday 18 February 11 04:06 GMT (UK)  »
Could someone with access to Little Bromley PRs or Transcripts/Indexes please lookup the following.

Am looking for a birth/baptism for Samuel JAMES, born circa 1766 in Little Bromley, (according to 1851 census.)

Also could they please confirm a marriage for Samuel JAMES and Mary FISHER in Little Bromley,  about 1759 or 1764.

If possible can you see any other Births/Marriages/Deaths for JAMES in that period.  (c1750/60/70)

Samuel was in Ardleigh from at least 1788 to his death in 1855.
Age in census 1796, 1851  and burial consistent with birth circa 1766.

I have tried SEAX, but the years I am interested in are not digitalised yet.

cheers
Frances

Hi Trevor and Ronnie,  thanks for the help.

I do have all the Ardleigh PRs,  and Dedham  info.
William and Hannah are related to my line, descended from Samuel bc 1766.

Ive been through the Free Regs and Seax  and found quite a lot on the family.

I did have a lookup a few years ago for little Bromely,  and they couldnt find the baptism as I think the years concerned were missing.  (They did find a marriage for Samuel James and Mary Fisher, which could possibly be the parents)  but I will ask again just in case someone spots something else.

cheers
Frances

I really dont have much more on Samuel James,  he was born abt 1766 probably in Little Bromely,  (according to the 1851 census), baptism not found,   he married Lucy Jowers in Ardleigh in 1788 and has a son Samuel as listed above along with 7 other children.
He died in 1855 in Ardleigh.
As I posted I am looking for people with connections to this family line.
