Galway / McGarry/Carney marriage help please
« on: Wednesday 27 September 17 14:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi,  i have a brick wall that i am hoping for some help with please :)

My Husband's Great x 2 Grandparents are Michael Carney and Bridget McGarry. This has been confirmed via baptism records (Cheshire non conformist) and i have been unable to find a marriage for them.

Michael was born approx 1823, Bridget's yob varies between census but is approx 1827. Both according to census records, were born in Galway.

They moved to Congleton/Astbury in Cheshire around 1851 - 1853 as their first 4 children were born in Galway, their 5th in Congleton.

Mary Ann Carney 1848 Ireland
Winifred Carney 1850– Ireland
Patrick Carney 1851– Ireland
James Carney 1853–1895 - Ireland
Thomas Carney 1855– Congleton
Edward Carney 1859– Congleton
Catherine Carney 1861–Congleton
Jane Carney 1863– Congleton
Bridget Carney 1865– Congleton
Anna Carney 1867– Congleton
Michael Carney 1870–1928 - Congleton

Any help tracing the marriage for Michael and Bridget, and if possible their parents name would be amazing.

Many thanks

Lisa

When did your parents marry, could it be something to do with that?

They married in 1976. My Dad wasn't around for my birth and for a while after so could that be why then?  Could i have still had his surname if he wasn't at the registry office

Thanks for your help :)

The Common Room / Birth registered twice

Hello :)

I've found that my birth has been registered twice, both entries have the same details but one is in 1975 (my year of birth) and the other in 1977.

Would anyone know why this is please?

Many thanks

You say in the first post that you have a marriage record showing her age - what does it say about the name and occupation of her father, and who were the witnesses?

Also, what was the bride's address at the time of marriage (and was it the same as the bridegroom's)?

Hi, sorry i should have said that i found the marriage entry for 1909 on Freebmd but no other info as of yet. I got her age from the bmd marriage entry and her age on the 1911 census. I'll order the marriage certificate today :)

Familysearch has that 1886 birth transcribed as Frederica:

Frederica Wilhelm
Registration Quarter:    Apr-May-Jun
Registration Year:    1886
Registration District:    St. George In The East
County:London

Vol:    1C

Thank you :)

It was on Freebmd as Frederick

Hi, i'm helping a friend with his family tree and haven't been able to find any records for his Great Grandmother Frederica. Wilhelm

Her marriage record, 1911 census and death record all show her year of birth as 1886 but i cannot find her on the 1891 or 1901 census so i'd be grateful for a fresh pair of eyes please.

The 1911 census (she is Frederica. Curl by then) mentions her birth place as Whitechapel and says she is a British Subject by Parentage

I have found a birth record for 1886 which may have been transcribed as Frederick in error

Any help with this brickwall would be appreciated :)

Hi, i'm hoping someone could help me find the birth of my Great x 5 Grandmother Hephzibah Barker

She was born around 1771 in Broseley, Shropshire died 1845 in Barnet

Hephzibah married John Barnett in 1791 at St Nicholas Cole Abbey, London

Any information on her and her parents would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Lisa
