The North Yorkshire Records Office in Northallerton holds many of the Parish records for Knaresborough - I was there a couple of months ago doing Knaresborough research and they were really helpful

Hi Elaine,

I have emailed you a brief history of the Moyes Abercrombies etc in Auchterderrran.  Hope you can understand it!  I took quite a few photo's of the churchyard and church when I was there plus some of Powguild Farm (see email) if you want any let me know

Hi Elaine

Many Many thanks for the info on Auchterderran M.I.'s.  Alexander Abercrombie and Catherine Moyes were my g.g.g.g.g grandparents.  I am sure that some of the Wemyss mentioned must also by relatives (I will keep digging).  I would be grateful for the sketch of the locations of the graves - I have taken photo's of the churchyard so it would be good to see if I can place them.  I am new to "Roots Chat" so don't know the formula needed to receive scans - help needed.  Will now need to find out if someone out there  has M.I's post 1855 as I know that other family members are buried there.

Regards

I have a list of the above MI's. If anyone needs anything looking up please let me know. I do not have photos or access to either place, just an old list of the names and dates.

Hi Elaine

Wonder if you can help.  On visit to Scotland last week visited Auchterderran Churchyard looking for family.  Churchyard really old and most of headstones broken or unreadable.  Am looking for Abercrombies (James died 1850s) plus Isabelle his sister (1861?) also Browns (David and Margaret (Mary).  Would you also have Moyes and Weymss.

Any help would be appreciated

Regards Helen
