I recognise a long time has passed since this was first posted in 2006, but I have lots of info. They were my GG Grandparents!

Please contact if info is still needed 🙂

I have found a record for a Peter Dunne in Tipperary, father listed as Charles Dunne. Thanks to a kind person on here posting a link to a database, an albiet very expensive database  :o

I have then searched the records for Dora Boland and only 1 marriage record is listed in the same district as the birth for Peter Dunne, 10 years earlier and with a different husband listed  ::)

without spending 5euros for each view of a record, I am stumped once again!

Hello :)

I was also confused by the black and tans story, but you know what family rumour is like  ::)

Peter did indeed stay on in england after his marriage......my gran used to travel to middlesborough to see her grandmother (Peters wife). The only dates i have to go on are those on the census and that listed on his marriage certificate....

I have to admit to not even having looked at my family tree in over a year. When my grandad died i was given a box of things but there was no information about Peter....

Tipperary / what/where do i go now ?

My GGrandfather Peter Dunn(e) was born in Ireland, His marriage cert of 1892 in Middlesborough gives his fathers name as Charles Dunn(e), land surveyor - it doesnt say he is deceased.....

family stories say that Peter was from tipperary, stories range from he was chased out of Ireland by the Blacks and Tans to him running away to England to get away from the IRA who wanted him to join them.....

census records indicate he was born in 1862, but his marriage cert indicates he was norn in 1865 so anything thing from 1861 to 1865...

How do i find out more? where do i go next ?

Thanks in advance

My GGGrandfather was Charles Kavanagh/Cavanagh (ive seen it spelt both ways on census and certs!) he was born circa 1842 in Dublin, Ireland (info from UK census) his father is listed as deceased on his 1867 marriage certificate issued in Halifax, Yorkshire. His fathers name is Michael Kavanagh and his occupation is given as labourer.

How do i find out more ? where do i go next ?

Thanks in advance :)

Kilkenny / How do you find out more ?

My GGgrandmother was apparently born in Kilkenny - i do not know if its the city or the county  ::)

It was written in various census in England that she was born in Ireland/Kilkenny, Ireland. Given her age on the census and her marriage certificate i estimate her DOB to be circa 1845.

Her marriage certificate in Halifax, Yorkshire in 1867 gives her fathers name as James Butler, Labourer deceased.

so what now ? where do i go ? how do i find out more ?

the very first site i joined many years ago was rootsweb.....and other than paying a subscription to Ancestry.com/co.uk that was about it really and its a great starting point - dont join too many as you will defiantely get lost in your own posts.

i have only just joined this site, but it seems to be ok so far :)
