How great to hear from someone living in the wonderful (if exhausting!) Kellet Cottage.  It is the best news I have had in ages and I am thrilled to hear from you!  I have indeed been watching you (and another - your son/Dad perhaps?) working the exhausting task of sorting out that lovely old cottage all summer, with great interest.  The new flagging on that courtyard and front path, and especially fitting those slabs round the manhole cover, must have been an absolutely thankless task.  Have today closed up my caravan on the site after a week of torrential rainfall right up until yesterday night, and returned to Manchester - a three and half hour journey because of the flooding - but wonderful sunshine for my return trip today so I can't complain too much...  Would love to talk about the cottage - especially as my old Mum (you must have met her when purchasing as she was the one responsible for the selling side of things when Prof.Addison died) has fantastic recollections and all the detailed back-history logged four generations deep, in her mind!  I will give you my email addy so that we could perhaps correspond outside of this arena if that is easier for you?  I am sure no-one else is particularly interested to read detailed info about difficulties with the boundaries between the garage and the septic tank!  LOL!  I am

and I think we 'met' very briefly during the summer when I held one of my toddlers up to see over the wall on our way to catch the train to Millom - you were deep in reflagging if I remember correctly!  I'd love to hear from you about your progress on the cottage when you have time, all my very best childhood memories are based there...  Talk soon hopefully.  Thx. Hi there!  Don't have anything useful to contribute to your search really, but just had to drop by to say that I was kicking over Silecroft beach last weekend and found a brick there with 'W B Walker Brickworks - Sylecroft' stamped in it.  Added it to my collection of bricks that I have found from round the area which I use as doorstops. My Mum saw it and said that Grandad used to have a heap of those in his back yard.  She said that Will Walker lived in Kellet House in Silecroft right behind our then home (we had Kellet Cottage just behind Kellet House for 40 years) and that Walkers owned the brick kiln on what is now Silecroft Caravan site up the road.  The clay was dug out from what is now the duck pond end of the caravan site, and the sand was brought up from the beach at the end where my caravan now stands.  Perfect site for a brickworks with plentiful clay, water and sand. She said my Great Gran remembered Walker's Bricks were all laid out in the sunshine on the field to dry before kilning, right in the place where our caravan stands now!   :)
