Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Jonathan Lansley Possibly Ludgershall.
« on: Thursday 28 August 14 00:22 BST (UK)  »
Please may I ask somebody if they can find a Baptism for a Jonathan Lansley(Lancley, Lanesley) around 1739. He may have been baptized in Ludgershall or the surrounding areas. He would have been the son of Jonathan Lansley and his new wife Anne nee Cook. They married in Ludgershall in 1739. If I can prove that Jonathan and Anne had a son called Jonathan around that time, it will have collapsed my 15 year long brick wall. Many thanks.

Lainey  :)

West,

Thank you so much for your help. You may have just helped me breakdown my 15 year old brickwall and find my 7X Great Grandparents. I have always had an inkling that my Lansleys were originally from Ludgershall, hopefully I am on my way to proving just that. Can't tell you how grateful I am.

Would it be possible to find out if Jonathan and Ann baptised any children in Ludgershall after their marriage in 1738/1739? I am especially looking for a Jonathan Lancly.

Thanks again

Lainey :-)

Please may I ask some kind person to check a burial for me?

William Amber died October quarter 1851, Devizes, Wiltshire. I am hoping to find out the age, address, parents, etc. I am trying to discover whether this was a child of Isaac and Sophia Amber.

Many thanks Lorraine

Shellyesq, Thank you for your comments. I know that Samuel Davies had connections with Plymouth and Carbondale Pennysylvania. According to the Ellis Island Ships manifest record he arrived at Ellis Island with a relative called John Skyrme and friend William Tewkesbury. They were going to 74 Washington Street Carbondale to visit a friend called John Walsh. The record states that Samuel had visited the USA around 1886-1888 and been to Plymouth PA. I had a feeling that the census record I found was in New York but I could be wrong. I will have to try and get back to the records office and look thru more ancestry records. Thank you so much for your help.

Thank you so much Osprey for taking the time to look for me. I am not sure if this is the right one though. I know that Samuel was a stonemason and I did find a record for a Samuel Davies Stonemason. I was thinking it was in New York but I could be wrong. The problem is there are so many Samuel Davies, born Wales in the US census after 1909. Oh how I wish I had taken more notice of the record when I found it, I just did not realise the significance until I spoke to a relative the other day who told me of the stonemason connection and then I put 2 and 2 together. I think I will have to go back to the records office and spend a bit of time trawling the records again.

Thank you

Lainey
