London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: Nov 1838 marr .St James, Paddington, Middlesex

If you are looking for fathers names etc - there is a tree on Ancestry with full details.  Robert died 1850 aged 35

But, it is always better to do your own research - NEVER rely totally on other people's information.  ;)

Thank you Bookbox.

The transcription does say that Thomas Herbert, Esq. is from Hammonhead, Yorkshire and that Lucy's father is Sir Walter Alexander - no location stated.

FindMyPast have 4 transcriptions of this marriage information - Britain Marriage Licences - Boyd's Marriages - 2 instances in British Marriage Licences giving date of birth as 1608.

If all else fails, then purchase of the GRO marriage certificate might be your best route.  :-\

I lost my grandfather in WW1 and he is commemorated at Thiepval.  I have the war diary for the Regiment - they lost 8 officers and 217 OR on that day - 7 October 1916 - 11th Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / Re: Traves

Welcome to RootsChat.

Could you give us a little more information about what you already know?  A first name and a possible date would help us to get started.  A more precise location would also help - if I put the surname Traves and "Yorkshire" into FindMyPast then there are nearly 2,000 results  :o
