I've no idea, I'm just clutching at straws.  I've spent hours looking for a marriage + I can't
find Alice on a census.   There is a Alice Beatrice Hill birth registered in Sept 1893 in West Brom
but without getting another certificate I'm at a loss where to go next.  The only other thing is
did the go to Gretna Green????

Hi
I've recently purchased the certificate for Beatrice Alice, but unfortunately not the correct one
one.   If they married in Wales is there a chance it wouldn't be recorded.   He must have married
in between the 1911 census and 1914, his widow married again in 1915.
Checked all the indexes, can't find a thing.

I'm looking for a marriage for a James Smith and Alice Beatrice Hill.
On the 1911 census James aged 17 single born Abbots Bromley. Occupation Railway Clerk boarding
with the Webber family in Abertillery Wales. In 1914 he enlisted at Burton upon Trent in South
Staffs Regt No. 8004, his address West Bromwich.  He was killed 23/10/1914 - CWGC website says his widow A.B. Sheldon formerly Smith living in West Brom.  First I can't find a marriage or unable
to find Alice Beatrice on any census.  I've got her second marriage cert. which states father down
as Samuel Hill occupation Railway Labourer.   Can anyone help me, I've think I've been down every
avenue I can think of.

Oh dear, think I'm doomed with our James.  I did think it was odd, he was living in Abertillery on the 1911 census and moved to the midlands and married in a short time.  Unfortunately we can't find his military papers, only what's listed on CWGC.
Are all marriages listed?

Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone help please with some research we are doing on a James Smith born 1862 Colton, Staffs.  On the 1911 Census he is Boarding with his wife Hannah at Lord Street Oswaldtwistle,
his occupation is Picture Hall Proprietor.   We would like to know if it's possible to find out if he
owned a Picture Hall in Oswaldtwistle??

Thanks, we have seen that but it's the next Register we need to look at.  Just where would you find
it???   I'm expecting 1st Marriage Cert today, so may help with his occupation at the time.
He was 17/18 when he married, a young age for that time. Maybe a child involved!!!

Hi thanks for your info, I have got Alice's 2nd marriage cert + waiting for her 1st marriage
cert.   We are really interested in his Railway career and know he worked for The Great Western
in 1911 in Abertillery, we can't trace him after that until he enlists in Burton upon Trent.
