Hello Jack,

Thanks for that info.  Apologies for delay in getting back to you.  Basically my great great grandfather Thomas James Boucher was actually born Thomas James Pardoe. At the time  of the birth(1859) the mother Louisa Winkless was living in Comhampton as stated on the birth certificate - there is no record of a marriage to her and James Pardoe but she put the father as James Pardoe (and herself as married) so the one living there seemed an obvious candidate....however to complicate things her mothers maiden name was Pardoe and I've not been able to find any link between the mothers family and the Comhampton one. Louisa married James Boucher in 1964 the year after James Pardoe's death.  James Pardoe's will did not mention a wife or child.  all very confusing!

thanks
Martin

Dear Gem,

I'm only 5 years late replying to this!  Hope your research is going well.  Too many dead-ends stopped me doing an awful lot of family history for quite a while.  I have a possible 'link' to the farmer James Pardoe who died in about 1863/64 in Comhampton but have not researched that famliy very much so far.  Would be interested to hear your link to this family.

thanks
Martin

Thanks for your reply.  I will try and piece together some more information.  It seem to be one family at a farm in Comhamton rather than many Pardoe families around that area but I'll need to dig deeper.

thanks again
Martin

Hi,
I am related to a James Pardoe who resided at Comhampton nr Ombersley until his death around 1864.  From census information I understand the family were farmers

If anyone has any information about this family, I'd be very interested to hear from you.

Many thanks
Martin

Hello again,
I managed to get the birth certificate for Thomas Pardoe born 1859.  The mother was Louisa Pardoe (born Winkless) who 5 years later married James Boucher of Kidderminster, so my hunch turned out probably right.  This Thomas Pardoe was later known as Thomas Boucher.  Now I'm trying to get more info on the father who is James Pardoe and was listed as a Draper/Journeyman.  Have you come across any Pardoe drapers in your research.  The supposed residence of the family was Comhampton and I notice that a farmer Henry Pardoe resided there in 1850's according to a trade directory.  That's all I have except I cannot find any mariage between a Louisa Winkless and James Pardoe so I do wonder whether she made up the fact that she was married. I guess there are lots of possiblities here..............Did she make up the name of father?  Thomas was baptised in Ombersley where there are lots of Pardoes so it would seem strange to make up a name that is so common there and announce it in church.........
Louisa can be found on the 1861 census listed as unmarried (and as Winkless, and based on profession, age and being born in Coventry I'm confident its her) whilst Thomas Pardoe is lodging in Hartlebury..  I smell several rats   :)
thanks
Martin

Hi - all I know is that the parents were James and Louisa Pardoe.  My great great grandfather lived his very early life in Hartlebury and was called Thomas James Boucher, however we know he was adopted and this Thomas James Pardoe is just one of a few candidates that I'm looking further into given that he is a 1 year old boarder in 1861 so is exactly the right age.  It's just a line to follow up and may be irrelevant.  'my' Boucher family were from Wolverley.  i'm expecting a birth certificate next week so will know more about James and Louisa then.  These synchronicities are everywhere for example Thomas James' adopted parents were James and Louisa Boucher.

It's all just a hunch.
cheers,
Martin Boucher

Hello there - thanks for your message,

No, my Boucher line came from Wolverley/Kidderminster right back to the 1600s.

thanks

Hi
I am interested in a Thomas James Pardoe born 1859 in Ombersley and a 1 year old boarder in Hartlebury in 1861 - his parents Louisa and James don't appear on the census - have you come across these individuals.  I'm waiting for his birth certificate but if you have any additional info then that would be great.
thanks,
Martin Boucher
