I'm sure you can buy some fiche from the Chesterfield & District Family History Society if you have the use of a fiche reader?

Are you looking for anyone in particular or just anyone?

Hello Donna, I'm just sorting through some old notes & I have the birth & baptism dates of 2 sons of a Thomas & Polly Rhodes of 6 Penmore Street, Hasland; Thomas was an Engine Fitter.
Harry B: 4 Jan. 1911 & Jack B: 27 Dec. 1912 Both were Baptised on 9 July 1913.
The problem I have is that I don't know what Church they were Bp in.... It might've been St. Paul's but I don't know. It's an old note on a bit of paper...  :-\  Sorry

Hi Donna,
On FREEBMD I found a marriage for a Thomas Rhodes & Polly Wilby 1905 June 1/4 N. Brierley 9b 360.
There are births registered for N. Brierly & Chesterfield from 1911-1918.
It may be you'll have to send for your Grandad's birth cert. if you don't have it for your Grandmother's name - then send for the marriage cert. of your G. Grandparents.
This may or May not be your family Did your grandad have a brother named Harry?
1911 Census: 23 Grove St. Hasland, Chesterfield
H: Thomas Rhodes, 32, Engibne Fitter, B: Stanningley, Yks.
W: Polly Rhodes, 32, B: Farsley, Yks.
S: Harry Rhodes, 2mnths, B: Hasland, Yks.

I don't have any info. for you Mark but I just wanted to say that I'm just sorting through a family whose name began as Stirling but it differed throughout family to include Sterling, Stirland, Sterland etc.

I don't know if your William's famly was the same but I just thought that perhaps people could include those names too??  :)

I'm looking for any Rhodes family member [& their family line] primarily connected to the Derbyshire areas of:

Shirland, Alfreton, North Wingfield, Chesterfield, Ripley, Heanor, Clay Cross, Staveley, Clowne ...& areas around to these places.

I would be interested in any information on any Rhodes family of Derbyshire though.

I am going to put together a database so any info. is appreciated.

don't give up, you never know  :)

When I'm in the library or record office my mind may be on what I'm doing but my ears are tuned into my family names
