Thank you for all your replies.

To be honest this woman has become the bain of my life! She has been my personal 'brickwall' ever since I started researching my FT some 9 years ago and I think in desperation I might be clutching at straws.
However she did lead a very 'colourful' life with lots of children, some of which were named after my G-G-grandfather despite not marrying him for a further 8 years.... My own g-grandfather was given his surname yet the fathers name was blank on the birth cert and Kate was using her maiden name despite me knowing that she had been previously married to someone else.
All this in the 1800's. Tut tut!

regards
Sharon

Thank you for your reply aghadowey

None of the census' that I have found for Kate listed Ireland as a birth place. I am only pursuing the Ireland possibility due to the fact that
a) I can not locate her prior to 1871
b) family rumour has it that her family originated from Ireland.

Ireland / Kate Hurley <1843>
« on: Saturday 25 April 09 15:08 BST (UK)  »
Hello

Kate Hurley was b.<1843>. I have only been able to track her back through the census' from 1901 to 1871. Before this date I have been unable to find her anywhere.
Her birth place on these census' all varied.
1901 - St Pancras
1891 - Unknown
1881 - St pancras
1871 - Middlesex.

There are Kate Huleys in earlier census' but the fathers name doesnot match the entry on her marriage cert (1888) of Thomas hurley.

I have never been able to track down a birth entry for her or any details on her father Thomas in England. I even sent off for a birth certificate for the only Kate Hurley registered between 1842 and 1844 in the St pancras area but this turned out to be another Kate with a different father and can be traced through the census so I know it was definately not my Kate.

So my thoughts have turned to pursuing a family rumour that she/and or her family originated from Cork.

Can anyone help or advise me, as it seems as though I am searching for a needle in a haystack!

Kind regards
Sharon

I can't find anything on the net with reference to Cruck Meole 'Villa'. Did houses have names in those days or just numbers does anyone know?

It most certainly could be because Emily Sarah Danavell was Fredericks sister!
Thank you so much!

Now you mention it, I can certainly see that it could say uncle although the name means absolutely nothing to me at the moment.
I really need to try and find what connects my Danavells from London with Atcham.

I am actually wondering if 'Cruck Meole Villa' was some kind of lung/chest sanatorium as when Frederick her father went there after being discharged from the army he was suffering from Chronic Bronchitis brought on by the inhalation of mustard gas. On his medical records it says that he had valvular disease of the heart  also attributed to mustard gas.

Just a thought.
