In case it is of use to anyone, I ordered a birth certificate for a John G Kelly born 1935 Provan reference 644 /4 / 993. It isn't the John Kelly I was searching for, if anyone wishes a copy, happy to scan it to them. Mother's maiden name is McArthur.

And Catherine Divine aged 20 marriage in 1874 in Port Glasgow is not same family as mother listed as Bridget Divine maiden name Tollan, father's first name not listed.

In Scotlands People there is a death in 1857 of an Anthony Divine mother’s maiden listed as  PTOLOMEY 574/183 in Port Glasgow. Haven’t accessed the record in case some one else has the details, happy to access if needed, cheers

I tried to confirm the dates for James McArthur on SP, but alas I could not find a match, so if anyone thinks it is a different inscription, please update.
2024 changed James to aged 68 years, date to 4th and John died aged 28.
Possible match to a James McArthur, Spirit Dealer died 4th June 1899 4 Castle Street Irvine. Parents were James McArthur and Agnes McArthur nee McCrossan. Wife listed as Sarah Shields. Based on will listed for a James MacArthur at Ayr sheriff court. formerly 24 Oakshaw Street, Paisley, afterwards 4 Castle Street, Irvine, d. 04/06/1899 at Irvine, testate.

Sarah Ramsay death in 1880 aged 78 in Stevenson was widow of Alexander Ramsay (deceased). Her parents listed as William and Agnes Walker both deceased, posting in case it saves 6 credits for someone. Good luck in your search

In case it helps, there is a death record in Greenock for a Sarah Mackie 24th Aug 1877 aged 60 years. She’s wife of John Mackie. Address 5 John Street, Greenock.
Sarah’s parents are listed as David Walker, farmer deceased and Isabella Walker nee Cameron also deceased.
If it’s the same family, Catherine deceased by 1877.

Thanks for all your searches and suggestions - never ceases to amaze me how much info roots chat finds. Does it look as if Ellen Mailey and Hugh McLaughlin were not married when Susan and Ellen were born in Greenock in 1907 and 1908, and latterly married in 1910??

1st attachment Ellen born 1908, 2nd attachment death of Ellen (the mother nee Mailey) in 1921, 3rd birth of Susan in 1907
