Hi Ken,

Thank you for your full and very useful reply.

Genoa is a long way from the Ionian Islands, and with no date for the entry, seems to me that something might be amiss with it. I'll pass this onto the relatives that are hunting down the lady in question.

Once again many thanks,

Ian.

Hi,

Can any body tell me what Ion. Is under the Regt. column means, please. It was taken from "GRO REGIMENTAL BIRTH INDICES (1761 to 1924)".

Is there a way to confirm the date or parents?

Any other info. would be great too.

Hi,

The forth child was a matter of simple maths on the 1911 census (the caveat being that they had not lied on the census!), four born, two still alive. But as this child wasn't on any census's and the parents moved about a lot. It was going to be difficult to pin the forth child down. There second child was born in Clacton, there was one other Adkins born in a 20 year span in the tendering area (the following year!), that child also died in the same quarter. So I would suggest that would be a very good starting point, you have to start somewhere and work through the possibilities.

My very best regards IAN.

Hi,

Not sorted out yet. We've been tied up chasing people (Banks of Foulness) in the ch elmsford record office of late.

Plus we've been trying to figure out the history of one of his sons, William Albert Godman, of Barnet 1873.

I might take you up on your offer though, if you don't mind, I'll see how things go.

England / Sydney Alfred Moores, born Clapham 1895

Hi,

I'm trying to trace where Sydney Alfred Moores, born in Clapham 1895 ended up and when.  He married Hilda Violet Turner in wandsworth in 1923. He (alone) then went to Australia (Sydney) in 1926 a few years after his son (Alan Sydney Moores) was born, we know he came back, then went a wandering again. We know he used to pop-up now and then, but nobody seems to know what happened to him. We've been told he was a "full time captain in the home guard during 1939-1945", but no idea where. His parents were Sydney Charles Moores 1869 of Bermondsey and Edith Jane Beslee 1859 of Woodchurch in Kent. We are not sure if he died in the UK.

If anyone has any info or guidance we will be very gratefull.
