I would be very interested to hear from essexdavid and keebleancestors regarding Johnson research. My Great Grandmother was Matilda Johnson, who was the granddaughter of Joseph Atkinson Johnson

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Thomas John Marshall

I would be very interested to know more about Thomas John Marshall as he was my Great Grandfather's nephew. I know that he was the illegitimate son of Esther Marshall and was baptised in Warehorne in 1876. I know nothing of him since 1891 although I have just found his death details on CWGC 31/8/1916 which names his wife as Elizabeth Florence. There is a possible marriage in Lewisham district 1897 but I haven't verified it.

Thank you Carol
Ernest was born in Norfolk in 1877 - he was an assistant clerk in Norwich, Norfolk in 1911 and when in Canada was a hospital secretary.

Hi Carol
Thank you for that information. Just need to track down his brother Ernest John W Richardson now, but I couldn't find a suitable entry  :(  He was in Norwich, Norfolk, England at the time of the 1911 census but some time after that emigrated and worked in Winnipeg

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / UK incoming passenger - look up request
« on: Sunday 25 October 09 12:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I have been told that Aylmer Ewart Richardson emigrated to Canada.
Aylmer was born in Norfolk, England in 1887.
According to search results, there is an Aylmer Richardson in the UK Incoming passenger lists 1878-1960 arriving in Plymouth.
Please, does anyone have access to these records who could have a look and let me know the details for this entry and whether he is travelling alone?

thank you

Other Countries / Re: Congo/Zaire: missionaries to Zaire 1920

Wow! The BMS responded exceeding quickly with some very useful details, thank you for your help in pointing me in the right direction.
I have been sent their obituaries - Arthur Allen first sailed for the Congo in 1910 and was a missionary for 38 years. Audrey went with him in 1914, after their marriage.

One of the other British missionaries on that voyage was Clement Chesterman - later Sir Clement. He was a member of the Baptist Missionary Society. His obituary in The Times (July 23 1983) confirms that he travelled to the Belgian Congo with his wife in 1920 - to Yakusu.

Thank you - I presume that would suggest that the other missionaries on the ship were probably also from the BMS, so will see if they are able to assist - thanks for the link, lizdb
