Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: Help! 1841 needle in a haystack!

Hi Ivan,

It's amazing what a fresh set of eyes notices! I'd not even realised there were Joneses next door in 1861. I'll certainly have a look into this seeing as I'm really struggling trying to find any other leads with the two Thomases.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi,

I am trying to find two Thomas Joneses on the 1841 census but unfortunately I don't know where they were living at the time. Please see my other thread:

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,374475.0.html

Can anyone make out the address of Thomas Jones on his marriage certificate of 1845?

Many thanks for your help.

Hi MA,

Many thanks for your reply and your kind offer of help. I've had a look at those christening records on ancestry but none of the results for Thomas Jones seem to match.

Hi Ivanidea,

Many thanks for your reply. The witnesses on the marriage certificate are listed as Edward Sproston and Martha Sproston. From what I can make out Ann's residence is listed as Back or Black Castle Street, but I can't make out Thomas's address. I've scanned the certificate but I can't attach the image to this reply. I have clicked on the link 'Attach a photograph or image (and other options)' but nothing happens! I must be doing something wrong but I don't know what!

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Help! 1841 needle in a haystack!

Hi. I have no idea if anyone can help me with this request as the information I have available is extremely limited. I have spent hours on ancestry searching the 1841 census without success and am close to admitting deafeat! Please help!

I am looking for two Thomas Jones on the 1841 census. They are a father and son but I don't know if they were living together in 1841.

The information I have for the first Thomas Jones:
- he was born about 1821
- in subsequent census returns his birthplace is listed as either Llanerfyl in Montgomeryshire, Llandderfel in Merionethshire, or Llangollen!
- he was a cooper
- he married Ann Sproston in 1845 in Liverpool Parish Church (but i cannot make out the residence listed on the marriage certificate)
- from the 1851 census on he is recorded as living in Chester, where he lived and worked as a cooper until his death in 1896. I believe that Thomas and Ann settled in Chester because this is where she was born and her family were living.

The second Thomas Jones is the aboves father. The only information I have for him is what is listed on the above Thomas Jones marriage certificate of 1845 and that is his profession was a joiner. I am only assuming he was alive at the time of the 1841 census beacuse he is not recorded as being deceased on the marriage certificate.

I know this is a really difficult request but can anyone help me with this? I would be really grateful.

Hi Paul,

Many thanks for looking up that information for me. I was kind of hoping you might only come up with one! With the limited information I have about her I don't think I'll be able to determine which one out of the two is the one I'm looking for. I'll be definitely following these up though - thanks again.
