World War Two / Re: WW2 Service records
« on: Friday 08 October 21 19:24 BST (UK)  »
Just an update as the original poster to give other folk a guide on delivery times. I have today received the 7 years Royal Artillery records for my wife's father having sent for them mid-June 2020. They returned the cheque as they called it 'out of date' and an envelope to send off a new one. So pleased to have received them even though he seems to have spent most of his service life in trouble for absenteeism from sentry duty or AWOL in general although interestingly one of which was around the time of my wife's birth. Also seems to have had quite a few hospital visits.

World War Two / WW2 Service records

Hi, my wife applied to Glasgow for her deceased father's WW2 army service records mid-June 2020 and has not had any reply. The cheque has not been cashed so we sent a follow up chaser but again nothing. Does anyone please have any suggestions on how we should proceed and if we are likely to get a response before the cheque becomes invalid? Many thanks

FH Documents and Artefacts / Re: Eliza Broughton letter

Many thanks for that. Unfortunately it is not my family. You are correct about the earliest possible date of the letter as I see that a Reginald Edmund Broughton from Derbyshire was Vicar at Prestbury from 1889 until 1929 and his wife was Elizabeth. They show on the censuses so, in all probability,  it must have been her.

Thank you Carol they are great.

No family connection with my own Broughton surname from Cheshire in the late 1700s? Coincidently my next door neighbour and good friend is a Borrill from Lincolnshire.
