Northumberland / Re: William Walker bc. 1780/1785 in Northumberland

Many thanks for the info, Ireneb.  I'll check through the sites and let you know if I find anything worthwhile.
The thought had crossed my mind about William being a mariner from Hull and sailing to Newcastle as all his children were christened in Hull, etc.
Thanks again.  Wak.

Hi Irret,  Jane Burn is also the only Jane from Newcastle that I could find who married a William Walker around that time but I thank you for your interest.
The info says they were married in Netherwitton, Newburn but Netherwitton seems such a long way off to be a part of Newburn.   I wrote to a church in Newburn but the vicar/curate didn't have any information about the Parish in the early 1800's.
I have been hoping that someone from the Burn family was interested in family history but no luck so far.
Regards,  Wak.

Northumberland / William Walker bc. 1780/1785 in Northumberland

Hi, I'm still trying to trace my g.g.grandfather, William Walker, born about 1780 to 1785.
He married a Jane  ???   (born 1784) who definitely came from Newcastle and I can only assume that he also was from the Northumberland area.  Shortly after the marriage they moved to Hull where he was a Mariner and died before 1858.
Any help/ assistance or pointers would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Grayt, As it happens, I'm a Hull man who has lived in Manchester (Chadderton) since 1960.
Regarding Olive May Braithwaite and family, I think the only way to find anything about them is to either check the BMD Records at any UK Record Office or L.D.S. Centre or alternatively log on to www.1837online.com and pay to view the records.
You should then be able to obtain the birth certs, the marriage cert and the death certs of Olive and John Braithwaite from the Hull Record Office.
You may also be able to contact the Hull Public library or the Council to see if they have any online records of the Electoral roles for the area.
Sorry I can't be of any further help to you.
Good hunting.

Hi Grayt, Sorry about my error. I obviously saw what I expected to see and not what what was actually written.
Strange that your Olive Williams married a Braithwaite and the Olive Braithwaite I found married a Williams???
Your details do not say whether you come from Hull or not but I was born there and if I can help to recognise the Street name on the Certificate then you are invited to send a picture of the written name if you so wish.
Good hunting.

I also just seen an Olive M. Braithwaite married a John H. Williams in 1934 in Hull.
To find the death of Olive M. Williams I think you will now have to search the records at the Record Office as I don't think the FREEBMD and YorksBMD DEATH entries are passed 1931 at the moment.

Hi Grayt, I've just looked in the YorkshireBMD and found an Olive M. Braithwaite born 1913 in Hessle/ Hull Ref HES/85/56
if it's of any help to you??
1913 would fit in better than 1916 with the marriage date of 1933, 20 years old instead of 17??
I also have a cousin called Olive Braithwaite who was born in 1919 in Hull.
Regards,
Wak.

Many thanks for that info, Edmund.
Obviously a transcribing error as in 1881 Joseph and his wife were in Winterton which is only 10 or 12 miles away from Ealand.
I shall alter my copy of the index accordingly.
Thanks again for looking at the original.

Yes Thanks, Bee, I have already tried the Lincolnshire Board with no joy but thanks for your input.
I think I shall leave it as Lincoln as suggested by Wobbly.
