Thanks Pinetree - Sarah Ann Sharpe looks a likely bet.

The post I deleted above was a newspaper cutting re Mary Clark and William Dawson's eventual marriage in 1900 (I decided I probably shouldn't post it due to copyright etc) - it basically said that Ampthill union was going to stop outdoor relief for Mary unless they married. The baptist minister who married them did so without charging a fee.

. . .
When was this will?  it may be possible  to check a list of Notaries for the time/ find on census ???

9 June 1741 (2nd line).

A little early for a census me thinks ;D

Not sure how I missed that date!

As you say a little early for a census. However, there are plenty of Cuckows in Kent including, most notably, Daniel Cuckow N P in a 1739 document on the Kent, Tyler Index to Wills

Sorry, I have to disagree.
Compare the spacing of the Do in Doctor with that of the Du  in the purported  Duckow and consider that he would have written the C first then the D, but spaced it before the C. Sorry, not on.
I'll stick with D Cuckow!

Yes I see what you mean - there is a gap between D and uckow and the letter mixed up with the D could be a C. So D Cuckow is very feasible.

I would also say the surname is Duckow - compare the D with that in Doctor - and that there is an initial mixed up with the D but not sure if it is a P as not the same as that in Paul.

Yes I'd agree with Maudlin.

They certainly moved around albeit in a relatively small area - living in tents and caravans explains it, hadn't noticed that.

There is a Louisa Caroline Corker born April qtr 1843 in Marylebone Vol 1 Pg 206

Not her as she is with mother Ann in 1861
